Very comfortable. Not the best welcome, the software had booked me as one but when I said there were 2 of us I felt as if the host thought I had been trying it on! I paid the extra £9. Also I hadnt noticed that I had to go to the bar to check in and was told there was a notice. Otherwise extremely clean and lovely linen and towels. The earth breakfast promised sourdough but just bog standard white was on the plate and nothing earthy about fried rosti potatoes. Very quick and plesant service.

We stayed at The Cat and Lion when it was a Premier Inn, and it was okay. The reception was in the hotel building. This time we had to register in the pub building, bit of a nuisance when you've got luggage, but not too difficult. Room 29 was a nice room with enough space, but the bathroom had seen better days - very bad staining around the bath plug hole, and the non-slip part of the bath was as smooth as the rest of the bottom of the bath. Dangerous! We didn't know we had to ask to have the room serviced; no information in the room, only menus; nothing to hang on the door handle saying please do/don't do the room. Didn't know we had to order breakfast at the bar, and when it arrived it wasn't great - mushrooms out of a tin?, charred tomatoes, overcooked hash browns, the smallest egg I've ever seen, weird toast! What kind of bread is that? The spinach was lovely however. Same cigarette ends under the outside tables for 3 days. Had to go to reception to ask for clean towels and the bins emptied, and we made our own bed every day. At nearly £100 per night, it wasn't what we expected.
