Travelodge Harwich ★★★
"The staff were very accommodating and very helpful. We checked in and few hours later we had to go due to work matters and the reception lady by the name of Jessie was very concern of why we need to go, she immediately asked if everything was ok and if the room is according to standard. We said yes and explained that we just had to go. But over all in general from the time we checked in to the moment we leave she was really on top of providing a good customer service! The room was good enough to it’s value. The room is clean as well as the t&b."
Alma Inn & Dining Rooms ★★★
"Just a really good local hotel. Lovely friendly atmosphere well located next to the Harwich dock. Old fashioned pubs that have been turned into, sort of, boutique hotels don't always work but The Alma is great - higgeldy-piggeldy corridors but very comfortable rooms. And a really good breakfast in a rather quirky dining room. We had dinner at the attached Lambards Salt House (5 stars excellent) and would expect the dinners at the Alma itself to be good too since they are all part of the same operation."
Flat 19 By The Beach ★★★
Premier Inn Harwich ★★★
"Every time we stay with family in Harwich we have previously come here, however, after our last few visits, and now with the new Travelodge just a short walk away fuelling competition, I felt compelled to write this review. This has always been a fairly decent hotel, nothing spectacular, but, then again Claridge's it isn't. Staff are helpful and friendly, but their early check in guidelines do differ from other locations - elsewhere you can check in early for free at the discretion of the receptionist, or sometimes a £10 fee (e.g. at Harlow Mill) before 3pm, where as here you can't (at least this is what we have been told) - maybe because of it's location next to the port? Since the new Travelodge has arrived nearby, we have stayed there over coming back here, as you get an Iron and Ironing Board in your room as standard (here you have to ask, which is a nuisance), can check in earlier and have aircon in the room. There is also ev charging right outside. The Premier Inn carpark is rather untidy - full of litter etc. Rooms here need to be updated! Some of them desperately so, they must be at least 20 years old, and it clearly shows. We have stayed in a few of the rooms over the years, and all need a good lick of paint, carpet replacement, and a bathroom overhaul - rusting taps/pipes, chipped paintwork, cracked mirrors etc. There is also an issue with the curtain rails in the bedroom, where the curtain rail detaches when opening/closing - we have raised this issue several times when staying, but nothing has been done. If you are going to be on average 30% more expensive per-night than your local competition, this needs to be justified! Else, reduce your rates. Until recently, this hotel was our only option, but as said, now we go elsewhere which is cleaner, more efficient, and ultimately cheaper. Clean up your act Premier Inn!"
Sarah Hotel ★★★
"Now under new ownership, things have changed, for the better. The lady in reception could not do enough for us. We were offered several rooms to choose from which is very rare. The secure parking area was shown to us, the gate opened and then shown from there to our room. The room was spotless, as was the bathroom. Very polite, very friendly and excellent value for the money. So glad the pub has gone, it was a bit loud but now 9t was lovely and quiet. A good nights sleep was had by us both and we will always use this place when travelling via ferry. For us, although it’s not a five star hotel, for what we were given and the friendliest welcome it gets a 5 star review from us."
Driftwood Cottage ★★★★
