There are some good things about this B&B: it’s a lovely old building, close to the city centre and 20 minutes walk from the castle. There are a couple of shopping malls nearby for essentials, and they have good, free coffee in the kitchen. Unfortunately there are also some drawbacks. We booked the “comfort double” room without realizing quite how small it is: just 3 x 3 metres. Fortunately there’s a sitting area on the upper floor where we sent our evening. There’s nothing the owners can do about it but the road outside is dug up for major engineering works, so the view from our room was of a construction site.

I loved this place! It is cozy and very clean. The rooms are located in an old wooden house, and my room had an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The room had also a balcony and a mini fridge with complimentary drinks, and the lobby had another fridge with items to purchase. Tea and coffee was available in the lobby, as well as board games and books to borrow. The house is old and walls and doors are thin, so you have to be very quiet not to disturb other guests, and hope they do the same. The bed was great, and had linen sheets that felt luxurious. There was shampoo in the bathroom. Breakfast was served in a charming café in the next building. The breakfast was not a buffet, but served on a tray, and it included a boiled egg, yoghurt with jam and granola, juice, a bread roll with salad and cucumbers, mini tomatoes, apple slices, a meringue, and as much coffee/tea you wanted. The breakfast was good, although a bit too sweet for my taste. I warmly recommend this place to anyone who is not looking for a traditional hotel stay but is happy with less service and wishes to experience something local and unique.

A nice, different place to stay in downtown Hämeenlinna. Review based on a one-night stay in March’22 (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe). Location: Quite well located just on the border of city center, away from the main commotion but still just a short walk away from the restaurants, shops and bars. The main bus station close by, distance to the railway station 1.5km. With car the E12 highway is very easily reachable. Room: Had a room at the ground floor next to the main entrance. On the smaller side but enough for a single night without any big luggage etc. Some issues with soundproofing though, as the room has just a regular thin door to the corridor. So it was rather obvious every time somebody entered the building or went out. Having said that, luckily there was not really any major problem. Room was very clean, no signs of usage anywhere. Etc: Good breakfast served to the table. Check-in & out was very efficient. Would I return there? Yes sure, a nice place offering something else than the regular big hotel experience
