I am writing this review as someone who attempted to cancel their reservation but was unable to do so. So I am going to be blunt about the issues that I saw. I did not discuss anything with management, as I saw that as a waste of time. The manager that I spoke to on the phone when trying to cancel my reservation was rude and hateful. The front desk people were powerless to do anything. First, before making your reservation, ensure that you cancel it if your plans change. Neither Choice nor the hotel was accommodating. I am a loyalty member, and that loyalty meant nothing when I tried to cancel this reservation. Choice told me to call the hotel, the hotel told me to call Choice, and it was a roundabout circle until I asked to speak to a member of management at the hotel. I explained the dilemma and what Choice had said, and they flat-out refused to allow me to cancel. After I use up my points from this stay, I won’t care if I ever stay at another Choice Hotel again. This experience was a relationship ending event. Secondly, housekeeping only comes twice a week. I was here for three days and four nights, and housekeeping never cleaned my room. On Friday, I left with the 'do not disturb' sign on the door, as I had left my laptop in the room. So, I missed that service on Friday, but I didn’t need service on Friday. I needed it on Saturday and Sunday to remove the sand and trash from the room. For the price I paid to stay here, I expected someone to be available every day. COVID is over, but housekeeping only comes on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you stay more than overnight, be prepared to sweep your own floor and take out your own trash. I thought it was weird that I had enough towels for my entire stay, now I know why. Now on to the main part of my review. The front desk personnel were friendly enough. I didn’t bother to make friends with them, as I didn’t want to be here anyway. But the rate that I apparently chose dictated that I show up, as my card was being charged regardless. The room was dated; it had a musty smell. I did not try the internet as I brought my own. The bed was comfortable; the box springs or mattress needs to be changed soon, as it divots in the middle. The refrigerator was nice; it kept my drinks cold and the food I purchased frozen. The microwave ******, as it was a low-voltage one. The toilet paper ******, I think it was one ply or very cheap two ply. If you get a room in the back part by the bay, be prepared to be in the dark. There is no lighting. The parking lot is rough with potholes. The beach was dirty and littered with cigarette butts. The lounges they have back there are rotted. There was an onsite restaurant and bar. According to the website, there is a business center and wifi. However, there are only two days of the week that they provide housekeeping for people who are there for more than a day. That is not mentioned on the website anywhere. The view and private balcony were nice. I was charged a deposit of $10
