We booked a non-smoking business double room. The room reeked of smoke as soon as we entered and we do not smoke or like the smell. The room was also a lot smaller than the photos showed, and the bed was sagging a bit and not the most comfortable. The floor's carpet was old and gross that I bought a pair of sandals so I did not have to step on the grime. The bathroom was musty and had black mold in the caulk. We saw a very large cockroach in the hallway and no one seemed to care. The front desk primarily spoke Mandarin only, with the exception of 1 nice gentleman who spoke fluent Cantonese. Prior to checking in, we called to notify that we were checking in the next day since our flight was arriving in the early morning. My dad was already in Guangzhou and also physically went there to confirm with the front desk. On the day of check-in, they still were confused and almost gave our room away. The location is near a lot of food and activities, but the hotel itself is on the 4th and 5th floors and the whole place just reeked of smoke. We were honestly disappointed with our stay, and I would not recommend this hotel for non-smokers and non-Mandarin speakers. It was difficult to even check in here, even with family help.

There are fewer hotel options for foreign travellers in China, so this one was fine. The hotel looks like the photos and has all the basic amenities. The staff had limited English, but did their best to be helpful.
