"This is a family-friendly resort hotel. If you want to enjoy the winter aurora borealis or the Blue Lagoon, I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are clean, the food is delicious, and the front desk staff are especially helpful. Even though my family doesn't speak Icelandic or English, we were able to stay here without any problems."

"I could say a lot about this hotel but you would be reading for a very long time so I'll try to keep it brief (ish) Let me firstly clarify that this is an EXPENSIVE trip away so definitely needs some planning. We stuck to our budget in the end but it was still very pricey. The staff here are absolutely lovely and the welcome was really nicely done with no queuing at a reception desk. Welcomed by your host and sat down with a glass of champers whilst they sort all the paperwork for you. We were pretty tired so this was fab. This hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere (around 45 mins drive from Reykjavik where we had started our trip but only 20 mins from the airport) so don't plan to be out sightseeing. We were there for 5 days which was lovely but 2-3 days would be enough. I was worried that with my gluten free diet, I would struggle to find snacks and meals to eat but there was no problem and the choice was great. Breakfast is just lovely with a casual approach to seating in the lounge area and so much choice of food of all types (meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, yoghurts and even gluten free cake! We had originally booked a meal in each restaurant but after one night we realised that this was not necessary so had 2 nights of no formal meals and just snacked from the public cafe which has a good choice of options. We ate once at the Moss restaurant which is really pricey and offers a 7 course tasting menu with optional pairing wines - we were totally stuffed but it was amazing food and although the service is a little over the top for our liking, the staff were lovely. The lava restaurant is nothing special in that it is the public restaurant and more like an upgraded cafe in its vibe but the food was good. The one thing to note is that there is a lot included in your stay which was not really highlighted to us so it took us a while to realise this with some things: eg: The mini bar is included and topped up daily! Every night at turn down you receive chocolates and a spa gift. You get 15% off in the shop There are as many towels and robes as you need and you can help yourself but beware - the efficient room staff will change your robe every time they visit so don't leave stuff in the pockets and if you like your robe as it fits so well - hide it in the wardrobe to stop them taking it to give you a new one. You don't need flip flops as they provide very comfy slider in your size. Morning yoga is free The gym is good and also free Afternoon coffee/tea and a small snack selection is included from 4-5pm every day in the lounge The spa offers the 'ritual spa' treatment daily and is included - very lovely You receive a lovely spa products gift pack on arrival. The room is lovely but the toilet area is only slightly private! Overall the bed was super comfy and the view is very impressive. The lagoon for guests is very private and wasn't busy. Beware that your hair will feel like straw after a dip! Best to wet it first and cover in condit"
