Booked a Sunday lunch for my partners 60th birthday. Our table was booked for 2pm. We were seated in a corner. The table wasn’t laid and there were no menus. We waited, but after 10 mins no server had been to our table, so I got up and went to the bar to collect menus. We continued to sit and wait. Eventually I caught a waitresses eye and she took our drinks order and food order. Drinks and starter arrived soon after and were ok. But then we sat for a good hour with nothing. We were sat with no drinks or food. We kept trying to catch someone’s attention but nothing. When we looked around we saw a table with the servers all sat eating their cooked food! I Again,I got up and went to the bar and asked the manager where our food was. By now we were miserable and NOT enjoying the celebration. The manager then came to our table. He anppologised and said the chef had had to put another joint of beef in. By now it was 4pm!! 10 mins later our food arrived. It was raw! I like rare beef but this hadn’t even felt heat. I couldn’t even cut it. The potatoes were yellow and not cooked. The Yorkshire was soggy in the middle. It was so disgusting. We literally couldn’t eat it. When I called the manager back and said we weren’t happy, he said he would take the price of the meals off the bill but then started arguing that we were late to sit down (2.10pm) and that was part of the problem! That on a Sunday they are busy blah blah. Hardly our fault they can’t cope with the covers THEY book in! We set out to have a wonderful day which turned into a nightmare. I wrote to the head office to say how upset I am and to date I’ve received no reply. This tells you all you need to know about how much they care about their customers! I would urge anyone thinking of booking here for a Sunday lunch to take their money elsewhere. This was by far the WORST dining experience I’ve ever had!

Made a dinner reservation via their website on Monday for Friday evening & their auto reply says it’s just an enquiry & that they’ll be in touch soon. Waited over 24 hours & so decided to ring & was told we’re fully booked & someone would have let me know in a day or two 🤷🏻‍♂️ Pointless.

Lovely pub in great setting with clean rooms. Lovely to sit in garden and have a drink. Did not eat an evening meal so can’t comment on food then but breakfast was lovely. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Would stay again

The room, and venue itself, was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There was plenty of room for our weekend bags and hanging space for our clothes. The bathroom was also very clean and the shower pressure was good. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, particularly the young lady who served our breakfast, and the kitchen staff kindly catered for my slightly awkward breakfast request. They were also quick to check whether I was fully vegan when I requested no meat or eggs, as the other items were to be cooked in butter. I really appreciated this attention to detail. The downstairs door (below our room) clanged heavily as other guests came upstairs, but in such an old building, I'm not sure there is much that could be done to mitigate this. But because the rest of our stay was so comfortable, we felt it was not that much of a problem, especially as it didn't continue for long. The cost is higher than we'd usually like to spend, but it felt worth the money for such a pleasant stay.

The pub was very nice, with friendly staff. The meal was also very good. The room was quite basic, but comfortable specially the bed. However the bathroom tiles around the sink, and inside the mirrored cupboard where not clean splatters of toothpaste from a previous guest maybe! The sink didn’t have a plug for it, and the tap was quite loose. Our room was also above the kitchen, so the noise from the extractor was quite loud, and obviously had cooking smells in the room. Other than these minor things we had a pleasant stay.

Lovely little inn that has kept its 15th century character room was clean and comfy but a little tired in place could use a touch of paint etc. We enjoyed an excellent Sunday dinner and breakfast was delicious a very good choice for all and All in all good value for money.

Lost your crown Honest reviews. Carpet was overdue a vacuum. Toilet locks broken, overflowing paper bin and hand wash dispensers strewn around and not refined to the wall mountings. Very quiet in the pub at 5pm on a bank holiday easter weekend. Meal on the evening took over an hour to be served and when it arrived it was lack-lustre and bland. A whole fish which was watery and wasn’t given any proper serving cutlery - very poor. Meal was refunded and we were given an apology. We went to room number 7 and on entering came across 2 dirty cups and saucers - not the best first impression you want on entering your room. Manager apologised and took them away but also took out spoons away so we had nothing to use for our drink the next morning. Bathroom was tiny but it was clean and had a good shower. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was over cooked (and that’s being generous). Mushrooms and scrambled eggs were overdone with butter and the bacon was cooked within an inch of its life so much so my knife wouldn’t cut through it - I thought it was jerky! Coffee was so milky I could t taste coffee - sorry team but this place has gone down in our estimation. It used to be a destination for great food which was what our weekend was about but to then be told you weren’t serving lamb on Easter Sunday, we left and didn’t stay the 2ns night we had planned. You had a lot to live up to as for some years we’d visited for the food but were sadly let down this trip
