Sweet Breeze Inn Grants Pass

We love this hotel and everything was perfect, except for two things... First, there was no soap, which I'm sure was just an oversight by the cleaning crew. It was easy to call the desk and get more. Second, and this was the much bigger problem: the shower was built incorrectly. It only had one temperature (as hot as possible!) and an on-off valve. It was impossible to take a shower without getting scalded by the water. We didn't have this problem in another room last time we stayed here, so I don't know why this room had this problem. The shower in room 121 needs to be looked at by a professional plumber to figure out how to put the right kind of control on it.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Claims reservations can be checked in at 3 pm. Arrived but the office was locked. The employee inside motioned us to the side window in the driveway, in the cold rain. Told us he could not check us in because the owner was not present and would not be back for 30 minutes. We had places to be and needed a shower so we left. The owner charged us for canceling the reservation even though the location was not ready to check us in. Contacted the location but they insisted on charging me a cancelation fee. WILL NOT STAY HERE IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE OF IT!

The owner is a crazed, angry, bitter, supercilious person from "overseas." He will yell at you; he will threaten you; he will try to charge you for being 10 minutes past checkout time. He has even called the police on guests in the past. Everything at this hotel is decorated in second-hand Middle Eastern decor; everything is worn out, broken, dirty & substandard. Pay a few dollars more per night and keep on driving.... there are a dozen other, much, much nicer properties in Grants Pass just a few hundred feet beyond this dump.

1st, room door was wide open when we got there, for was dirty (see photo), towels were dirty (had to ask for new ones), and out toilet came pre-clogged. When asking the hotel to fix it, some black plastic came out (no idea what it was). Then was told it was fixed, it was not. I told the owner that the toilet was not fixed, he said it was (it would fill completely up, then drain slowly). I said that is not how a toilet is supposed to flush. He then said “Check out if you don’t like” and walked away. I literally had to chase him down to “try” to solve the problem. There was no trying here. I asked for a different room, nope, fully booked (yet you could book a room online), just check out was his solution. No refund either… Went to another hotel who laughed and said they have a reputation around town…

For a Motel 6 class - priced hotel this one was pretty nice and clean. The proprietors were very nice and even knocked 20 bucks off the rate when they heard we were bumped from the Travelodge up the street at the last moment because they had overbooked.

Rude owner, tv did not work, no curtains so very light all night, smoke smell even though a smoke free room, supposedly-

Room was really clean, but windows need curtains, as lights come in and not let you sleep well.

Overall it was ok. The staff was nice and had no issues there. The room itself was clean, however, it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke that was impossible to air out. Not sure if it used to a "smoking room" and the carpets never got switched out or not. Also, we were only given 3 pillows to share between the two of us and when we asked for more we were told it was an additional $5 per pillow. I have never been charged extra for pillows before. The sign also says there is HBO but when looking through the TV guide there were no HBO channels available.

We were very impressed but the quality and comfort of the bed. The rooms were very nicely done. Only two things would be good additions: one more chair and curtains to block out the outside light. I really think this motel deserves 3 stars! Also it was surprisingly quiet at night.
