Gateway Inn

Good hotel but sound carries especially in the morning. It was during the off season. The front desk and others were easy to work with.

I stayed at the hotel for a special event. Booked my room back in January. Paid for 2 nights. When I got there they said I had to pay more.

We totally loved our stay at this hotel. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Room was rustic lodge decorated and very clean. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Views of mountains and lakes from balcony rooms are excellent. On site restaurant offers a variety of good food. Live Music every night so if you want quiet dining this isn’t the place. We had the penthouse for our group which was amazing for large gatherings. Great hotel!

Unfortunately, this was not a good stay. It was the only negative hotel experience on our 12 day adventure in Colorado. The check in staff double as bartenders at the restaurant located in the hotel lobby. They were unable to answer questions about local hikes around the lake. And the hotel did not have a “grand” view of the lake. We were given a room adjacent to the restaurant and across from the Ice Machine. We politely asked for our room to be changed. The clerk had to get the bartender who was in charge of room assignments. We again explained that we were light sleepers and the live music and ice machine would not work for us. He said they were completely booked and could not give us someone else’s room, even though we had paid for an upgraded room with a balcony. He told us that someone had to have “this” room. We then offered to accept a downgraded room at the same price as long as it had a quieter location. He finally agreed to do that after sighing his was through it. We had wasted our time. The “improved” room was dank, dark and noisy. The air conditioning unit (old under window type) sounded like a diesel truck was running all night in our room. Would NOT recommend the hotel. Rude staff and not very well appointed rooms.

I wish I could have stayed longer. Such a beautiful place and so quiet. The views are marvelous and their food options are good. Breakfast does not come with the room but they do serve it in the restaurant on site. We had breakfast and it was good and not that expensive. There are many food and dining options just minutes away. The staff were great. I’m definitely coming back but for a longer stay. It beats the overcrowded Estes Park hands down.

It was almost perfect. Beautiful room with wooden furniture. Beautiful view from the balcony. Live music. The best accommodation by this trip.
