"The rooms are spacious and very clean with everything you need. Air con safe clean bedding and towels fridge small balcony but adequate. Not many guests so no buffet but anything asked for was provided quickly and efficiently. Service ice was friendly from kitchen to reception and rooms. Could not fault staff but disappointed with support of which there was none from jet2 again not the hotels fault. The location is little way out of the nearest towns but there is a bus service nearby to all main locations and is easy to use. Beach is a good 10 min. walk sometimes not ideal for those with walking difficulties as parts of the main road leading to us have limited pathways but once there it is stunning. All in all ideal for a relaxing holiday not ideal if you crave the nightlife but would highly recommend the hotel.for cleanliness and service"

The pool gets sun all day, which is perfect for cooling off and relaxing on the sun loungers. There's a small beach with sun loungers just a 2-minute walk away, as well as the aquarium."

"We had a lovely 2 week holiday to Golden Bay. We enjoy a smaller hotel and it had all that we need. The rooms are clean and well appointed with all we needed. The pool area although small always had enough sun loungers for everyone to be comfortable. The food was also very good and we especially enjoyed the lunches. The hotel is a short walk to the beach area with great places to eat/drink especially catering for young children. It’s also only a short distance to the aquarium which is worth a visit and day trips to local historical sites. The 2 things that really make this hotel though are 1. The beautiful view from the restaurant with incredible sunsets. 2. The staff who were so friendly and attentive. We really missed hearing ‘Kalimera’ each morning from the lady who runs the bar. The staff all work incredibly. Would definitely stay again."

"This place was not what I hoped and it's not a 3 star. Our sheets and towels were stained (make up on towels; sheets and under- bedding unsure what the stain was). Was not a clean space. All spaces could use updating. Poor fixes around the suite. Yes, you have to pay 5€ for air conditioning, taking you back to the 80s. They give you one sheet to sleep with. Just yuck."

"I had a lovely six nights in a sea view room with balcony, and am puzzled by some of the reviews. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom modern and well-designed. And the view was spectacular. The pool area is relaxed and surrounded by greenery. with a lovely beach a couple minutes away. But what made my stay as a solo traveller was the 'heart' of the place which is the people. The owner was to hand and always welcoming and helpful, and Panos at the bar was a star. I felt so comfortable sitting at the bar working my way through the excellent cocktails and chatting about all sorts of random stuff. It made my holiday. The food available is good value but if you fancy a change, there are other tavernas in easy distance. I hope to come back!"

"This was our 6th visit to Olga Studios between Gournes and Kokkinin Hani. Georgios and Stella are absolutely great hosts. Georgios picked us up at the airport, even though our plane arrived late at night, and when we got to the apartment he had put a couple of beers and some wine in the fridge in case we were thirsty after our journey. The apartment has a bedroom, small kitchen area and a shower room all of which has been recently refurbished. The patio doors open onto a reasonable sized balcony overlooking the pool area. The kitchen has two hobs, a fridge, plenty of crockery and cutlery, washing up liquid, sponges and tea towels. Everything you need if you want to make your own meals. Shower gel and towels are also provided in the shower room but take your own beach towels with you. Stella takes the morning shifts and does a great breakfast, if you don’t want to make your own. There is car parking available at Georgios’s mother house across the road but we do not hire a car preferring to either walk or take the bus. There is a bus stop, number 7, just outside the hotel and from there you can go into Hersonissos (Bus stop 20). Some buses run further into Malia and Stallis or change buses in Hersonissos to Sissi and Agios Nikolaos. The bus going the other way takes you to Heraklion. It is about an hours walk to the Crete Aquarium, which would probably be quicker if we did not stop for refreshments and photo shoots along the way. You can walk a bit further into Gouves but we decided to take the bus and wandered down the main street which has more speciality shops than can be found in Kokkini Hani. Most people staying here will go out for a meal. There are many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance around the area. When we chose a restaurant at the far side of the town, we were going to walk or get the bus, but Georgios insisted on taking us there. Stella also offered to take us to where we wanted to go during the day but we managed to make our own way. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant Georgios makes great meals. There is no menu, you just let him know what you want, he sources the ingredients and demonstrates his superb culinary skills. If you are lucky his mother, who lives across the road, sometimes brings over a dessert. The Pool bar is usually open at night until the last person leaves and is a place where friends and family meet to watch sports on the large screen TV. Georgios makes sure that his hotel guests are not left out drawing them into the group conversations. We didn’t see much of the two boys this year as they were at school but we certainly got to know Romi, the dog. Every morning, as soon as we opened the patio doors, Romi would be waiting, just below our balcony, to greet us. "This small and friendly family-run hotel/self-catering apartments is a great find. Jenny, the owner is very organised, warm, friendly and always on hand to answer any questions. She runs the accommodation with help from a few of her family. Our late afternoon flight was delayed by several hours prior to departure (and en route) due to stormy weather, therefore although we had been due to reach our accommodation at 10.30, we actually arrived around 2.00 the following morning. As the hotel is very small, it does not operate a 24-hour reception. Therefore, A note was left on the reception door to let us know our room number and arrangements for the key which was all as per the note. The breakfast is good for a hotel of this size consisting of bread, cereal, one type of cheese and ham and either cake or small croissants, plus coffee, tea and juice. It is served from 8.30 – 10.30 so a good timeframe to allow a nice lie-in. The small complex is as per the photos with nicely furnished outside areas around the reception/pool where you can eat breakfast. There is a snack menu serving drinks, salads, sandwiches, pizza, etc. throughout the day. It is a very short walk from several small beaches where you will find around 5/6 cafes/restaurants overall at intervals opposite the beach areas. The small beach areas are very natural and separated by rocky outcrops with some having sun loungers/umbrellas owned by the restaurants and others where you could take a beach mat or your own chairs, etc. space allowing. Around 15 minutes’ walk up to the main road you will find a traditional Greek restaurant (live Greek music on some nights), a very small supermarket and a bakery also selling ice cream and where you can either eat in or buy food/drink to take away. On this road, you will also find the bus stop which has buses to Heraklion (every 20 – 30 minutes) and Malia in the opposite direction. This accommodation and area has everything you need for a week’s holiday in a resort that feels "very Greek" compared to some other areas of the Island."
