My wife stayed here & i just thought I’d check reviews to see if anyone else had the same experience she had. To my surprise, another guest did! Booked a room - paid in full - & when my wife arrived to check in they said she booked two rooms & the balance of the second room had to be paid in full before she got the keys to the room already paid for! No second room had been booked! My wife was over visiting her sick father at Christmas & had no other choice but to pay it. My wife showed emails - rang ‘*******’ which was apparently the provider it was booked with & even got the confirmation that nothing had been booked whatsoever- showed staff the proof - & was still given no other option than to pay. The entire stay she wasn’t even given the keys to the second room. My wife was extremely upset & felt ambushed in an already tough situation , about to see her father for the first time in a care facility. Absolutely awful.

We stayed at this hotel on a Travelzoo deal, it cannot be faulted in any way. Fantastic location, lovely looking oldie worldly looking hotel, fab warm, clean rooms that looked like they had recently been decorated. Food was brilliant, staff lovely. No complaints, only positive things to say.

Thoroughly relaxing stay. Just what you need before the bedlam of Christmas. The beds are really comfortable and the breakfasts are amazing. A very special shout out to the staff especially Sasha, she was a star, nothing was too much trouble, thanks again for a great weekend stay.

Most importantly, our room was comfortable and quiet. Sadly, we didn't get a full night's sleep due to the noise of the central heating but this was hopefully a one-off. The food at breakfast and at dinner was excellent. However, not a 5-star review as the service in the bar/restaurant was a little too casual - we were ignored or forgotten at breakfast two mornings running. Also the ambience of the whole place is quite clinical, not at all homely. There were no pictures in our room or in the corridors. And there is no comfortable lounge area - all the shared areas are set up for eating.

We stayed for one night on a travelzoo deal and really enjoyed our stay . The cosy restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. The food at both dinner and breakfast was excellent although quite pricy as main dishes don’t include any sides eg had to pay extra for some vegetables with the pie of the day and for mushroom and tomatoes with the steak. Lots of choice at breakfast a cold selection and then table service for hot dishes which included eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon as well as full English . The bedroom was quite small but seemed freshly decorated. Staff especially the waitress at breakfast all very friendly and helpful.

We purchased their travelzoo voucher and arrived to a warm welcome. The helpful staff directed us to our room offering to carry any luggage. Whilst the rooms are not the largest they are clean and adequate. The menu was varied and the food very good. Breakfast menu is the highlight for me. Not just a full English but many derivatives off that including Benedict’s and pancakes. We would definitely visit again.
