Very nice Lodge in the Alaska "wilderness" Every aspect of you visit was top notch and we hit the fall colors perfectly. One of the nicest areas in Alaska and I have seen most of them in the past 73 years.

What an amazing place!! Sheep Mountain Lodge was perfect for our group. Mark Fleenor and his kind staff did a great job hosting us in their lodge. We had the opportunity to dine in their restaurant. All the food was top quality, fresh with generous portions! Their excursions were just over the top. From scenic helicopter rides to the Matanuska glaciers and ATV tours to the Gunsights Mountain in the Sheep Mountain Preserve, we were all so fortunate to see this stunning part of Alaska. Someone is always on property and available for anything you need. The lodge provided individual units with perfect views, kitchens, full bathrooms and 2 queen beds. The entire staff was welcoming and full of hospitality! Highly recommend❤️

Our family of 3 stayed in one of the classic cabins (# 5) for one night before our ice hike with MICA guides at Matanuska glacier. The cabin is nice, the classic cabins are located behind the premium ones, but you can still hear noise from the hwy. Our room has a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Each cabin has a porch with 2 chairs but sadly we were there with overcast skies and low-lying clouds, and cold / windy in the low 50s so we couldn't really enjoy sitting outside for too long. The twin bed in our room has a metal frame which creaks every time my son turns. I normally wear earplugs when I travel so not a big deal for me. The staff there is very nice - you check in at the main lodge, which is also the restaurant. We had both dinner and breakfast there. The food is excellent! The proximity to MICA guides was fantastic given that we booked the first tour of the day (9:30am), so we didn't have to stress about driving a long distance there in the morning.

Our party of five stayed in the Mountain House for our first night in mid-July since we were doing a Matanuska Glacier hike the next day. We would have loved to have stayed longer. The views were incredible (saw some sheep on the mountain!) and the Mountain House had plenty of room for us. The only downside for my mom was no decaf coffee. The beds were comfortable, though after a full day of traveling and a three-hour time difference, we might have been able to sleep anywhere! We arrived later than anticipated since we stopped on our way from Anchorage for dinner, and got some yummy desserts to go after we checked in since the restaurant was packed. We did get a chance to have breakfast the next morning, and it was all delicious! I hope we get a chance to go to Alaska again so I can try one of their standalone cabins. Between the views and the welcoming staff, it was a great, if too short, stay!

We stayed for one night to break up our drive from McCarthy to Homer, and so glad we did. This was a beautiful spot and the only place we saw sheep in our two week trip. We stayed in the guest house which was fine, but if we make it back one day I'll be on the lookout for availability in one of the cabins. Hot tub was also great option after hiking! easy to sign up for a slot. We also enjoyed the restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

The place was very good. The breakfast was very good. There was a lot of space for four people but the dining table was for 2 people. The helicopter ride was very good and worth it for $300. But the coffee machine was not working. There was no decaf coffee. The view was very good. There wasn’t a AC there was only a heater and a fan.

Mark (pilot of the helicopter ride from the Mica Matanuska Glacier hike) owns Sheep Mountain lodge. They food was great at the restaurant. If you go, safe room for the triple berry desert. They had a hot tub up there which was spot on after a long day hike. Beautiful scenery.

The views were great, the restaurant and the people were wonderful. I didn’t get to go in the cabins, but from the outside they looked much nicer than the mountain house. The mountain house looked like maybe it was part of the original property there. It was large and had plenty of room for 5 of us. I feel like it could use a complete remodel or at the very least, get rid of the carpet in the back bedroom.

We stayed two nights at one of their premium cabins. The cabin was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully furnished, with warm lighting and cozy furniture that created an inviting atmosphere. We loved the peaceful setting, the comfortable beds, and the beautiful mountain views from both the windows and the front porch.
