Tweeddale Arms Hotel

One of the worst places I have ever stayed. We were a group on a charity cycle ride and arrived to find that despite food being offered as follows (website and info in hotel)Sunday Food Service is Seasonal, closing 9 p.m. Summer Season, no food available at 8pm (think the chef just wanted to go home). Breakfast the following morning was a very poor continental breakfast, nothing particularly fresh or pleasant. No towels in the room so definitely not a place I would recommend for anyone to stay…

I was attracted to this hotel as it offered a single room at a sensible price. The room was quite small but there's a large lounge with comfortable armchairs and sofas so no need to stay in the room. Around the hotel are bookcases so there's no shortage of reading material. In general the hotel is quite traditional, room keys instead of cards etc. Some of decor and carpets are a little tired. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Note that breakfast is continental only, with a reasonable choice although I suspected the croisants are from Tesco. When I was there a note on the door mentioned staff shortages, this seemed most affected the kitchen as food service really slowed down as the number of diners increased. I found the diner was actually fine and draft beer was good. All in all, if you are OK with a traditional or quaint hotel, perhaps with some quirks, but good value then have a look at the Tweeddale Arms

A brilliant hotel, proper personal service from very friendly staff. Old fashioned but in a good way. Nice bar, filled with locals...and the locals dogs, which is always a plus in my book. Room is very nicely turned out, everything I need Well worth a stay

Overnight stay The staff were so friendly and accommodating, from my phone call to let them know that I might not arrive until 10pm to the welcome I received when I managed to be a bit earlier. The locals were very friendly showing how popular the bar was! The bed was comfortable and breakfast (continental) had a wide range of choices. If ever I come this way again I would stay here again.

i arrived here and was rudely greeted by the waitress which made me feel uncomfortable. throughout my stay, my neighbours were arguing the entire night which entirely ruined my stay. i couldn’t get to sleep as they were squabbling at eachother and i had heard something smash so it may have turned physical??I decided to go for a meal downstairs i ordered the fish. The batter wasn’t cooked properly, when i said this to the young waitress she said “sorry” i asked if the chicken and the fish got put in the same batter to which she replied yes. This is outrageous. I had nothing else as i wasn’t offered a replacement or refund which i was baffled about. I do not reccomend this hotel to anyone. Stay away.
