Tweeddale Arms Hotel

On check in, the carpets had dirty spots and the sink was not cleaned properly. On the second day, after housekeeping has 'cleaned' the room, the bed was messily made up, the sink remained not cleaned properly and no fresh towels were offered. Also, on reservation, the picture on the app showed a double bed. However, upon check in, my room was just a single bed, which was not as comfortable as a double bed. This is misrepresentation. I booked the room for the price because I thought it was a double bed, not a small single bed. Also the receptionist at check in was completely unhelpful and told me that my room was the single bed room. Finally, breakfast was a let down. For the price paid, I thought a hot breakfast would be served. All that was available was a cold continental breakfast. Cereal, yoghurt and toast. Completely pathetic. I recommend staying at other properties.

Absolutely fabulous place to stay, even if you are visiting Edinburgh. This was our 2nd time staying here and we want to go again. The locals are very, very friendly to talk with in the little pub at the hotel. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. When you see John (Owner), introduce yourself(s) to him. You will not meet a better innkeeper. He doesn't put up with foul language in the pub and will give a warning before he will toss you out. They even allow dogs in the pub.

Lovely stay in a nice room with en-suite, loved the old furniture and beautiful bathroom fittings. Staff lovely, continental breakfast with lots of choice. Parking is free, and although it is a very small village it was nice to walk around and the villagers were friendly too.

Nice people, nice room, comfy bed, good night's sleep. Dreadful evening meal: chips were so hard they were inedible. Such a shame, as rest of hotel was very good.

One of the worst places I have ever stayed. We were a group on a charity cycle ride and arrived to find that despite food being offered as follows (website and info in hotel)Sunday Food Service is Seasonal, closing 9 p.m. Summer Season, no food available at 8pm (think the chef just wanted to go home). Breakfast the following morning was a very poor continental breakfast, nothing particularly fresh or pleasant. No towels in the room so definitely not a place I would recommend for anyone to stay…
