Petit Palace Tamarises

Terrible hotel attitude, got scammed by the receptionist who confirmed all the details of the room by phone and during the checking said otherwise and even offered another hotel to accommodate my family with prices 4 times higher . Terrible terrible customer service and experience.. stay away from this hotel for your safety

There is a lot of good things to be said about this hotel. Location is great, outside of Bilbao but still only 20 minutes drive into the city. Modern and clean. Room to the front are definitely favourable, as in the back you have no views. Room and bathrooms are not overly big, but sufficient. Adina at reception was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was ok, staff was lovely. The aircon started to smell really bad during the night, so we had to turn it off. But Adina brought us a fan that we used the following night. There are restaurants, bars, etc...within walking distance. The beach across the road is lovely. On Saturday night there is very loud music from a bar just up the road. Quite unpleasant. You can book a car park but it's quite expensive. You will find parking nearby.

This Hotel gets a lot right but fails on some simple, easily remedied things. 1. When booking we weren't advised there were limited car park places (6 or 7) 2. and that we would have to park on the street if we hadn't booked a space - had we been advised we would not have driven around looking for the entrance to the carpark for 15 minutes. 3. The maps location brings you to the wrong location up a narrow inclined street. 4. The Hotel itself doesnt have the full name on the front - It says Tamarises but not Petit Palace Tamarises or even Tamarises Hotel. Next door is called Restaurant Tamarises - we originally thought this was the Hotel Restaurant and wandered around until someone pointed us to the Hotel. 5. The Hotel has a breakfast room but no restaurant and no bar - this wasn't clear when we booked. 6. When parking on the street you need to use a parking meter - this doesn't accept car registrations other than Spanish - the Hotel didn't advise we should download the Parking App in advance - they should have. 7. Did the Hotel advise there was a drop off zone outside the enterance to offload passangers and luggage before going to look for parking - NO. All of these are little things - little things the Hotel could have done to make everything run smoothly but combined the represent a hugh dose of frustration which coloured our view of the Hotel negatively. Hotel Petit Palace Tamarises please put yourself in your customers shoes and do the little things, the very important little things that makes life easier and removes the frustration at your Hotel. Will they do it - I really doubt it! On a positive note the rooms, though small, were comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. The breakfast, though a little odd in terms of selection of food, was acceptable and the location was in a really beautiful part of Bilbao. Would I go back, now that I am aware of all the little snippets of information needed to navigate a successful stay here - NO. It was too expensive, lacked the range of facilities I had expected for the price and is a little far out to easily navigate to the Ferry Port the next day.

Incredible breakfast, and service, specially the amiability of Enya. Amazing views of the sea and only take one step to reach the beach
