It would have been even better with a bathtub. There's a direct door leading to the West Lake wooden walkway. The location is superb, very convenient for getting around, everything is close by. The rooms are rustic, beautifully restored to their original charm, and very comfortable. There's a large collection of books available for guests, which I loved. The aged white tea was mellow and smooth. The in-room facilities were comprehensive and decent. If I could suggest improvements, I'd say the shower hot water control could be more flexible, and the toilet paper holder in the bathroom could be a bit higher."

The breakfast is nice although quite limited.. but is sufficient to keep our tummy happy. I would still prefer buffet than bento as some of the food given are not what I usually will eat, and it will go to waste.. at least for buffet, I can choose what I want and not waste it. Limited hotel options around Fuzhou that accommodate a family of 5 in a room.. this made a good choice for us. The downside is no privacy as this is like a museum which I’m not aware of when booking, hence people can walk around outside the room area. Another downside is 1 toilet for 5pax."

However, upon check-in, even though there were clearly empty rooms, a female intern at the front desk said rooms were tight and an upgrade wasn't possible. Oh well, no big deal. The hotel breakfast is pretty good, with most of the local specialties available."

We tried to ask for a different location, but the hotel said that this room type is always in that spot on every floor. Luckily, since we checked in at the tail end of the holiday, there weren't many guests, so we weren't disturbed at night. However, this layout is a bit puzzling – paying a high price for a room with a poor location... The environment is decent, but the experience was just okay..."
