Hampton Inn Franklin/Milford

Lobby: The lobby is very beautiful and spacious, with continuous supply of fruits, coffee and tea available at all times, and the surrounding environment is quiet.

I was pretty impressed with this place for a mid-price hotel. It had been years since I stayed in a Hampton, and was apprehensive about staying in one again, but this one had much better reviews than all the other hotels in the area, so we gave it a shot. Stayed for 6 nights. Overall it was very good. Definitely impressed with how clean it was. Looked like the room had recently been remodeled. The bathroom certainly looked new. The shower had sliding glass doors and a low threshold. Unfortunately, it did leak water onto the floor no matter how we arranged the doors or aimed the shower head. Water pressure was excellent. One way the room deviated from being very clean overall was the toilet. It had a noticeable urine odor from the minute we checked in. This did improve after we asked for it to be (re?)cleaned, but never really went away. Other than this, the room seemed very clean, from the bedding and towels to the carpet and furniture. The room was extremely quiet, and even though 495 is a few blocks away there was almost zero road noise. Other guests were mostly quiet throughout our stay- a pleasant change from most hotels, of any price. It was also possible to make the room almost completely dark- another pleasant change. Bed was extremely comfortable, except for the weird the comforter cover which didn't fit. Pillows were kinda mushy but not terrible. Breakfast looked OK- a variety of hot foods including eggs, omelets, fried potatoes, sausages, etc., and cold foods like yogurt, granola, etc. The usual stuff. We didn't try the hot stuff, and the cold stuff was nothing great. Not much fresh fruit. Hotel staff was excellent. This was the best surprise about staying here. Front desk was very pleasant and one woman went out of her way to contact me and explain a mix-up in a room cleaning request which was no big deal to us. Cleaning staff also very friendly and breakfast crew seemed to stay on top of keeping things clean and presentable. Great staff here. Other than the leaky shower door and p---y toilet, the only other kind of significant negatives were the room door, which stuck badly and made a really loud noise when opening or closing- this probably irritated nearby guests, and the thermostat. It was pretty hot outside during our stay, and the A/C kept the place quite cool, but it was nearly impossible to keep the temp stable- it was either freezing or kinda warm. Another issue was the price per night fluctuation. Even though there was not a Patriots game on either weekend we were there, they wanted a hundred more on a weekend night than during the week, putting the cost north of 250 for one weekend night. Seemed kind of strange to me, since there's very little reason to be in Franklin on a weekend except a Patriots game. We ended spending our last weekend in a great hotel in downtown Boston, part of the same hotel group, for just a little more than that. But overall a great stay.

It is a very quite town, I prefer big city lifestyle, but the continental breakfast and confortable stay was just right.
