Tides Folly Beach, Charleston's Oceanfront Hotel

Great location and service but old hotel kind of run down. You are paying for the beach access more than anything

I was shocked by how rundown this motel was. Visited October 2025 for fall break. I see now why there are so many sales going on for this property. I haven't stayed somewhere this rundown since I was a kid. The rooms themselves are small, the bathroom door looked like it had not been cleaned since the building was built, layers of paint rubbed off by frequent touching, each layer covered in dirty hand prints, loose and rickety plumbing fixtures in the shower, no fan in the bathroom, no hooks for your towel anywhere, not even one. Only about 10% of the balconies on the entire property had any chairs, and unfortunately ours was not one. The intake to the AC unit was bent, broken and looked like it had been kicked. No attempt to repair. One of the beds in our room had been slept in, as we discovered when my daughters went to bed the first night (long loose hairs and red sock lint). Called front desk and they brought more hairy sheets to change, which we had to do ourselves after we requested a third set. There were six of us, the first day we ate lunch it was $200 at pinkies , the on site restaurant. Wow. Was it good? It was fine, aside from literally the worst waitress I've ever had in my life. We were seated over 30 minutes and she came and went at least three times before she would allow (with an accompanying "I hate you but I have to smile" look on her face) me to give her our order. We will stay in the condos next-door next time!

We had an amazing weekend. Everything from Jeff the porter to the staff to the room and especially the view was A+. We literally arrived in the area, pulled over, booked on ******* and were in an amazing room in 30 minutes for a fantastic price. It felt like landing in Bermuda.

Everything was perfect and the addition on Pinkey's was excellent Staff, rooms and view were perfect and we will be back soon!

The location is beautiful. The rooms sre OLD and beaten up. Grout in shower dirty. Paint on walls old snd dirty. Lots of aur freshener to cover something. It's a goid location but rooms are dingy. Fun place I guess to get some beach time. Will stay in Marriott next time.

Excellent accommodations, staff super friendly, heated pool, beach access, great views, restaurants and location perfect for beach combing. Only 30 minutes from downtown Charleston.
