We last minute booked a table, which was available at 14:45. No problem as we bought drinks from sister business Hope & Anchor next door while we waited and were able to take the remainder with us to our table. We ordered roast dinners, one lamb and one beef. It was still fairly busy so we waited patiently for 50 minutes for our meals to arrive. Unfortunately the beef was a disappointment; my first mouthful being soft fat. Being wary from then on I put on my glasses to pick out the fat. I would usually complain but I didn't want to spoil my husband's meal and felt sure I wouldn't be served a replacement meal in time to eat with my husband. As can be seen from the picture the quantity of fat was disproportionate and really quite unacceptable, most of the meat I separated from fat was succulent and tasty though the outer edges were dry. You might also see that some of the carrots were also burnt. At the end of the meal when plates were collected I told the waiter of my disappointment and he agreed that there was too much fat. I also mentioned it at the till when asked but no offer of discount was made. Price was average at today's expectations. Needless to say, and unfortunately, we won't rush back there.

We stayed here on 29th May 2025 In readiness for ferry the next day. Excellent location for this however awful nights sleep on uncomfortable mattress and thin pillows and bedding. Noise levels from pub below went on into the night. The TV may have drowned out this noise but it was unusable as no remote control was provided. We asked staff if we could move rooms and to provide the remote for the TV. Neither option was available. We couldn’t wait to leave this place and cannot recommend it. Sadly no other option was available for the date we needed.

Only used the restaurant but felt I had to leave a review because the food was so good! We both had the Brisket with Pink pepper sauce, leeks, carrots and Calcannon Mash. Fresh, organic, tasty and wonderful! Well done James your new menu is a huge hit with me and my husband! At last a place to eat where the food is very good and also affordable! You could have sold us both puddings if the dinner portions weren't so huge though. Dissapointed I couldn't fit one in as I know how delicious your Whisky Bread & Butter pudding is 😉

The most horrendous room I have ever stayed in. To start with the positives. Check in was fine and meals in restaurant( breakfast and evening meal) very good. As for the room....this is where it goes down hill: room very dirty behind headboard. Filthy in fact. Liquid hand soaps/ shampoo/ conditioner all had barely an inch of liquid in bottle. This made us feel like we'd been put in a used room even though we hadn't. Damp on ceiling. Only one bed light working. The other one had no pull string. Both were full of dust and dead flies. Plugs hanging off wall.VERY dangerous. Fire door at bottom of corridor jammed open..dangerous plus causing much of the noise problem. Now for the worst point...THE NOISE!!! We were in room 6 directly above bar of sister pub "Hope and Anchor". Music blasting out all evening, loud drunken voices swearing into the evening. Music on Sat stopped at 1.30 am. Either they want a B&B or they want a noisy pub...they cannot have both. Such a shame as restaurant was great but no effort on satisfying overnight customers with their rooms. I feel the house keeping and maintenance REALLY let this place down! The furnishings are lovely, just not cleaned by the house keeping. We stayed all weekend and not once did house keeping call to see if we needed our bin emptying, fresh towels or bedding or anything replenished. Appaling service from house keeping. The restaurant staff however were wonderful.

We stayed the night in a basic room that was noisy. The music was turned off at 12pm so a bit late. The double bed was uncomfortable and the room was dated. The value was great and the walk round the harbour was great. The staff were welcoming. We are there in the evening and the meat was good value and great. The Breakfast was included in the room rate and made up for the poor room.

Quiet, comfortable and clean. Dining available for lunch and dinner. Full menu breakfast included with overnight stay. Staff were very friendly. A big shout out to Georgina, Lilly, Sophia and a beautiful red headed gal who lugged my heavy bag to our room. They went out of their way to make our first stay in their charming town memorable.

Location is good, very pretty place to look at. Unfortunately bed was so used the mattress was sunken and wobbly, both hubby and I had sore backs from it. The bathroom had a shower over a bath, but no room to stand. You had to sit in the bath and use a handheld showerhead, which sprayed water out the sides so that barely any water came out of the regular holes. Would not stay there again.
