Hotel Villa Bonelli

Hotel Villa Bonelli ★★★

📍 Via Francesco Poeti, 1, Fiesole

"Very pleasant person at the desk (Marietta and her colleague). They did their best to please us. Many informations about the tour in Firenze and many things to visit around the hotel. The breakfast was good just a problem with the coffee machine as the coffee and chocolate was really light (too much water). Nothing important anyway. 2 bottles of fresh water per day and a mosquito reppelent were offered and much appreciated ! The room was clean and the airco was working perfectly. The last day, they kindly keep our wine and Oliva oil by the desk as the temperature was too high to let it in the car during our tour to Firenze. Thanks again for your help !"

"Overall, the hotel staff were very nice, but! The hotel manager (an old man) and his wife had a terrible attitude. We booked this hotel solely to take some wedding photos in the manor, but when we arrived, the hotel manager (the old man) outright refused, without offering any alternative or compensation. He just kept refusing, saying we needed to book in advance, but didn't specify how far in advance. His only reason was that the hotel itself needed to take its own promotional photos during those days (though we didn't see any camera equipment or crew at all)... This reason is truly unacceptable. Shouldn't the reasonable and legitimate rights of hotel guests also be considered? We told him countless times and explained that we'd only take a few photos, which would take about an hour or so, and that we could completely avoid their shooting time and wouldn't even be in the same location as them. In short, the old man manager at the hotel repeatedly refused like a robot. Then, the next day, his wife was on duty at the front desk, and her attitude was even worse. She directly told us: "If you insist on taking photos, we will call the police." Honestly, this is the first time I've encountered such an exaggerated hotel service manager. We paid 10,000 per night for a room, staying 2 nights, and this is the attitude we got. I will never stay at this hotel again (objectively speaking, the other hotel staff were very nice, it's just that old man manager and his wife who are horrible people, with a typical stubborn Italian attitude, and they were also unfriendly towards Chinese people)."

Hotel Villa Dei Bosconi

Hotel Villa Dei Bosconi ★★★

📍 Via Francesco Ferrucci, 51, Fiesole

"We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in June with my friend in a standard double room. The room was very clean and it had large shared terrace with other rooms with view to the garden. The property is a gem with beautiful flora and fauna, the pool is clean and fantastic with sunbeds and umbrellas. The hotel staff is very helpful and kind, i could check in early when i arrived to the hotel this helped me a lot to start my vacation without stress. The standard room we stayed a little bit dated and the shower in the bathroom is very small size probably 90x90 cm, i felt like elephant in a porcelain shop. Overall experience is very good. Parking in the garden is free of charge. You need the car to access everything nearby."

Fattoria di Maiano

Fattoria di Maiano ★★★

📍 via Benedetto da Maiano 11, Fiesole

"While the hotel staff was very friendly and communication via WhatsApp worked well, the overall experience did not meet our expectations. The location offers a beautiful elevated view, but that was one of the few highlights. The room we were assigned felt more like a basement than a proper hotel room. Although we were offered an alternative, it was also very old and did not match the photos shown on the website, which we found misleading. Additionally, the room had an unpleasant odour – a mix of wine smoke and something musty – that made us feel uncomfortable. The breakfast was another disappointment. Much of the food had already been affected by the heat and looked unappetising. The pool area is nicely designed, but there were no shaded areas available during our stay. The outdoor shower by the pool was full of wasps and therefore unusable. Although the setting is quiet and scenic, it’s quite inconvenient if you rely on taxis – they need to be ordered at least 45 minutes in advance, making spontaneous plans difficult. Ultimately, we were so disappointed that we decided to check out earlier than planned."

Il Salviatino Firenze ★★★★★
"We were on a 10 night tour of Italy, having started in Bellagio, Lake Como. We had 4 nights in this hotel. We loved the peace and tranquility of the Hotel, the style is very elegant, and it smells gorgeous from all the diffusers around! When I asked for an ironing board and kettle, it arrived very promptly. Loved the Pool area and the terrace offers a fab view of Florence. Special mention to Paul the Concierge for his friendly, helpful service. All good. However, we found it odd that the Shuttle Bus doesn’t run on the hour all day. Why have such a big gap? It means that you can’t just do a morning in Florence, as the first bus back in the afternoon is 4pm. Taxis to and from central Florence are expensive - expect to pay around 35 euros each way! Service on the Terrace is very hit and miss. On our first morning we came down to breakfast at 7.30am when it opened as we had tickets booked for a Museum visit. It was a little cool so asked to sit indoors. We were the only guests around. Rather than see to us straight away, the Waiter finished laying out tables for invisible guests, while we waited. It all seemed a lot of trouble for him. We ordered two pots of coffee, one with Oat milk and one with normal milk. Two pots of tea arrived, no oat milk. So we ordered them again, and exactly the same thing happened. So we ended up ordering Cappuccinos as it was easier! Surely with so many Americans staying, black americanos with hot milk is not too difficult to understand! There was one young male waiter who was very good (sorry, didn’t get his name), but in general it seemed like they needed someone to organise them better. If these service issues could be addressed, this Hotel would get my 5 stars."

"Large room with private bathroom, everyone was friendly and kind. Excellent cleaning. Very convenient for reaching the central square and all the attractions. Unfortunately there is no parking and even unloading your luggage is a bit challenging but nothing impossible. It's a period building so the soundproofing isn't the best (I don't think anything can be done) but for one night it's a good solution. Advised."

Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel, Florence ★★★★★
"A truly spectacular place. The view over Florence from the terrace alone is worth the journey, the gardens and rooms are exquisite, and dinner as the sun sets over the Duomo is something close to cinema. But what makes Villa San Michele unforgettable is its people. The team, from the front office to the sommelier to the concierge, anticipates everything with a warmth and generosity that goes far beyond service; one member of the staff even offered, on his own time, to help us with a personal errand before our flight home. Can you imagine? We didn't feel like guests; we felt at home. We left already planning our return."

Agriturismo Biologico Poggiopiano ★★★
"After searching online for vineyard tours during our stay in Florence, the thought of a long drive by bus, and having to sit with a bunch of strangers whilst being instructed on wines, didn’t appeal to us. We wanted somewhere that was closer to the centre, where we could taste the wine at our leisure, but also have the view of Tuscany before us. We happened to come across this place, as an Agriturismo visit - wine tasting and pool day, for €40pp. An absolute bargain in comparison to the €300-400pp the wine tours were quoting! After a couple of days exploring the centre, and clocking up some miles walking around, we booked in for a day at the vineyard. We got a taxi from the centre, which cost approximately €30. The journey took around 20 minutes. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely friendly lady, who gave us a brief summary of the vineyard, and what the day included. We had bought our own towels and footwear for the pool, but were given some swimming caps, for use in the pool, if diving under the water. Our day also included a charcuterie board, and a glass of wine. Plus unlimited still water. We were then shown to the pool area, which was empty. Not a soul there. Which was fantastic! The views were incredible. It was such a hot day too, and we were thankful to have the pool to lounge in at our pleasure. Around lunchtime, we sat at a table at the top of the valley, overlooking the wonderful scenery. We were each given a charcuterie board, and a glass of wine to enjoy. It was wonderful. My husband isn’t one for sitting still for long, and I fully expected us to leave after a couple of hours. But he enjoyed it so much, we stayed from 10am until 3pm (you can stay up until 7pm if you wish). The lady on the reception booked us a taxi back into the centre. Which cost just over €35. We had a fabulously relaxing day, which topped off our short week visiting Tuscany…! Italy has won our hearts… Stunning."
