Qingshanjian Riverside Stilt House Inn (Phoenix Ancient Town - Hongqiao North Gate Pier Branch

- Waterfront balcony rooms are fine but on the small side for more than 2 adults. - Tommy the innkeeper speaks some English and is helpful with directions. I ended up just taking the 7 rmb shuttle bus from the train station and walked the 15 minutes to/from the hotel as I wasn't in a rush. Also, I wanted to eat further from Fenghuang tourist central as the prices were cheaper and the options looked more legit. - There's a lot of renovation and construction going on all over Fenghuang now. Nearby, loud construction started at like 8AM if you are planning to sleep in. - You need to use your room key to turn on the power, and the toilet is electric, so you need to insert your room key in the power slot to flush it, which was annoying during the day when you don't need to turn on the lights. - The rainbow bridge right next store is covered up with tarps and scaffolding now so don't expect a good view when you look right from the balcony rooms. - Overall the hotel is very central within Fenghuang and fairly close to the entrance if you don't want to drag your luggage far, although views wise, there's probably better locations for river racing balcony views within Fenghuang. One plus though, is the balconies on this side of the river don't get blasted with sun if you plan on hanging out there in the afternoon.

The only good things about this hotel is the location and view from the balcony. As it is in an old wooden stil house, the place looks old and dated. The room was quite clean but felt quite damp. Overall it was ok for a one night stay as it is located in a good location.

Very nice place! Right in the river. If you want to sleep early, It's a little noisy because it's at front of restaurants and karaoke's. But, the window is good enough to sleep. The noise stop at 12:00. The owner help me with the bags in the walking area. Everything was OK!

Perfect location for great river views. The staff came and to get me where the taxi dropped me off at. They where more than friendly. Would recommend this place to any staying in the ancient town. If I go back this is where I will stay.

Firstly, we booked a street side room, but I saw the room with a balcony over the river and it is well-worth the upgrade!! Highly recommend splurging for the river view. The owner/manager was great, spoke English, and was very helpful. He met us where the taxi dropped us and assisted with carrying our luggage. He did the same when we left, which was much appreciated. If you book pretty much any of the hotels along the river, you will need to walk a bit and it might be a bit difficult. One thing to be mindful of is that there are a lot of mosquitoes in the vicinity. That’s just part of the experience being along the river. The hotel provides a plug in device for mosquitoes and once you turn on the a/c, the mosquitoes tend to go away. Still, you may want to bring some bug spray. There were a couple other types of bugs around, but overall not too unpleasant. Again, nothing much any of the river-side inns can do about it. We stayed for just one night so even though the room is small, we managed ok. Overall, we highly recommend this inn, but go for the riverside view with balcony. It’s beautiful and you will be able to take very cute photos there.
