Property Description
This beautifully unique space is the (completely private) upper floor of a very grand old building right in the vibrant heart of Eureka Springs. Originally opened in 1885 as Harp’s Grocery, the building has long been a fixture in the coolest, most distinctive historic town in the Ozarks. Now updated with modern amenities, you’ll find it to be an absolute haven where your crew can relax and have a blast together. World class dining, galleries, shopping and more are all within easy walking distance; it’s just a block or two to many of the very best attractions of Eureka Springs.
Bedroom one has a queen size bed, a large flatscreen TV with an expansive cable package, and a gorgeous private balcony overlooking Main Street, a truly magical spot to simply sit and chill in the evening when the twinkle lights come on.
Bedroom two has a full size bed with a large flatscreen TV with DVD player and a super rad Nintendo gaming system that plays the original Nintendo NES games as well as Super Nintendo games. We have an awesome selection of vintage games here where you can geek out and get your nostalgia fix. Original Nintendo games include: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 3, Paperboy 2, and Kirby’s Adventure. Super Nintendo games include: Super Mario World and Legend of Zelda. Each game has its own labeled spot on the shelf - please return them to their places when you check out!
The bathroom is a stunning space with a deep soaking tub/shower combo under a windowed cupola. There’s also a washer and dryer here for your convenience.
In the kitchen you’ll find a full complement of standard appliances and accessories, including a full size fridge, a coffee maker, a gas range/oven, a toaster oven, a microwave, plenty of plates/bowls/utensils/flatware, and a bar with two barstools. The dining area looks down over Leatherwood Creek, a tributary of the White River which now flows both openly and under Main Street in a long tunnel, a mysterious aspect of the mysterious Eureka Underground. The babbling of the creek below melts stress away and puts you directly in touch with nature.
In the living room you’ll find a flatscreen TV with DVD player and a widely varied collection of around 50 DVDs, plus a large selection of books, an acoustic guitar, board games, puzzles, etc. So much entertainment!
The porch off of the living room is where you enter the property - it’s a few steps above your designated parking spot on Jackson Street. You’ll know you’re at the right place when you see the lime green door!
From the porch you can look down into Leatherwood Creek - it’s absolutely stunning!!! If you’re bringing more than one vehicle, there are low cost, easily accessible paid parking lots less than a block away in each direction.
Important info to know about your stay:
- Yes we have WIFI.
- Pets are allowed! Please just bring your own dedicated doggy blanket if your furry friend will be on the furniture. You are of course responsible for any damages incurred.
- You will receive a code to open the key box on the handle of the lime green front door (on Jackson Street). When you check out, it is your responsibility to return the key to this box and leave the door locked. If you lose the key, you will be charged.
- Downstairs is a completely separate unit called Down on Main which is also available to rent through VRBO (www.vrbo.com/3016858). Great place to stay, close to everything, beds very comfortable, eclectic style of place I loved. Only issue was you have to pass through a bedroom to get to bathroom and rest of house but if you’re with family or close friends it wasn’t a big deal. Host was responsive

This property is in a perfect location. It was spotlessly clean, and Matt was very helpful. We will stay again!

Up on main exceeded our expectations. 1st we were offered a early check in, which we took full advantage of and very much appreciated! Easy to find with the directions. parking is a little tight but still had room with a 3/4 ton full sized truck. House is much bigger than we expected by the pictures. Loved the old but fully functioning decor and rustic look. The balcony Overlooking main street we exactly what we wanted but yet still not very noisy at night. Plenty of books games and movies although we didn't use any of them. Could definitely use more lighting in the kitchen but small price to pay for such a wonderful place. Will definitely be booking again.

Great location for downtown access. Property is very old and only partially updated. Could use a good cleaning, and few more updates. Parking would be fine for a compact car, but not so much for 3 motorcycles.

Charming Location, but Strong Odors and Loud HVAC Derailed the Stay
The apartment has a lot of charm and is in a great location—right in the heart of Eureka Springs and close to everything we wanted to see. It was clean and clearly has received many positive reviews in the past.Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the expectations. When we walked in, we were overwhelmed by a strong Pine-Sol smell, which quickly gave way to a persistent musty/mildew odor that lingered throughout the apartment. It made the space feel damp and uncomfortable.Additionally, the HVAC unit was extremely loud—sounding like a freight train each time it kicked on. It was disruptive enough that it made it difficult to sleep or relax.Due to these issues, we actually ended up leaving a day early. With a few improvements to air quality and HVAC noise, this could be a great spot, but as it stands, it just didn’t work for us.

Great location, spacious rooms, comfy beds. Host was very responsive whenever we had a question. When we first got there, there was a really bad musty smell and we noticed a small drip from the kitchen ceiling that we thought might be the cause. We notified the host, who tried to find someone to come look at it, but since it was the weekend, he wouldn't be able to get someone there while we were there. The smell continued throughout our weekend stay. I would stay at this place again because of all the positives. Since I hadn't seen any reviews that mentioned the smell, I assume it was a new problem and will be resolved, but I'd definitely ask about it before booking.

Both porches were so dirty, ancient plastic flowers in pots. Really needs some improvement on these areas. Smelled like it had been closed up for weeks. Lots of hanging curtains windows doors that needed to be hung back properly. I would guess the owner lives out of town.
