Hotel Spa Restaurant Domaine du Moulin

Our regular, wonderful hotel when we drive to Italy for the night and the fabulous restaurant. We visit each year. A beautiful hotel, beautifully arranged and extremely comfortable with caring staff. We love to see the ducks on the pond which is easy from your terrace. Breakfast is truly amazing with everything you would want to have to eat and much more. Restaurant is fine dining with excellent wines, always good. Comfortable beds, lovely rooms or suites, everything is thought about for your stay. Underground safe parking.

Booked three rooms for our travelling family, us and our 21 and 18 y.o plus partners. Hotel was very nice, though catered to the older crowd, particularly on the weekend. Spa was great though quite busy. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection. Good base from which to explore local surroundings. Overall perfect for a few days / nights rest.

This is not the first time I have stayed at the hotel. As always, everything was of a very high standard. The rooms are very comfortable and the spa area is very nice. I must especially praise the restaurant and their cuisine. Great selection of wines.

Excellent and comfortable family owned hotel located 20 minutes from Colmar in one direction and 20 minutes from Mulhouse in another. Also near the Franco/German border. The hotel is impressive to look at and has been extended over the years. Most of it has been refurbished in the past few years so the hotel is in great condition. As well as a reception and bedrooms there is a bar, large restaurant in 2 parts, an excellent tea room with a good range of cakes , a beautiful spa and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and an outside jacuzzi so the facilities are really good. Also excellent outdoor and underground indoor parking. We took half board and the food was very good with large portions, well presented and no need to look at a la carte alternatives. The service was outstanding. A few negatives, but which take very little away from the overall enjoyment of the hotel. The bar is a slightly dingy area and the only proper lounge area. The breakfast room is not used during the day so there is extra seating there. However there is only dining seating in that area. The 2 restaurants seem to be divided between those taking half board and those taking regular meals. The half board area is a little sparse, although very spacious. The lighting is all overhead spotlighting where lights at table level would improve the ambiance. The bedrooms, although comfortable, are somewhat on the small side. Also the air conditioning is automatically turned off at 8.30 pm which makes the room warmer than it needs to be on a hot night.

This is a really beautiful property. About 10 years old, built in a traditional style on the outside, and a quite Germanic modern style inside. Everything is built to the very highest quality, and I was quite shocked (pleasantly) by how great it was given the price point (€140 for the room for one person). I particularly like the spa which (at 7pm) was really quiet and still running (different facilities close down between 8 and 10pm). Sauna with a picture window and a cold bucket 'shower' - perfect! Can't recommend highly enough, and want to return, but there are a few things which might be worth being aware of: - the rooms are really great value for the price, but the extras are more in line with the quality. For example, breakfast is €23 and worth the price (fantastic range and quality) - but that's quite high v the room rate. On the other hand, there is a bakery at the front gate that opens at 5am, and a v casual restaurant a few doors away. If you want simpler options, they're available outside the hotel. - the style of the hotel bar/restaurant is high quality but not necessarily 'luxe'. One of the dining rooms has no table cloths, and quite stark furniture. Again, maybe the Alsace style but this is more sleek than luxe/cozy. - the restaurant is high end and so be prepared to eat a gastronomic meal. I enjoyed my food but my beef was cooked may 2-3 levels higher than 'a point'. Unusual to get it that wrong. - the room has no toiletries in the shower except an unmarked dispenser which I took to be 'all purpose'. It was awful as shampoo, and there was no conditioner. Bring you own. - the Tesla chargers were all marked out of order. As Tesla drivers will know, it's a nightmare to arrive with 10% in a small town expecting to flop in the hotel... and see that. It is marked on Tesla's website as a destination charging spot. Hopefully they're repaired soon (and it turned out, when I tried, one of the three worked anyway) - Ensisheim isn't Colmar in terms of charm but it's perfectly nice. I thought the building across from the hotel looked odd, and then realised that it's a prison! If I get sent to prison, that's where I want to go! Looks nice - but perhaps not what you expect. I loved this hotel and will return when I can.
