Riverside Inn

I agree with most of the previous comments, positive and negative. The very impersonal system worked, but we are of the age that personal attention & communication with guests is preferred, especially in a B & B type of establishment. The room key did work, but the door stuck. If we could not get into the room, who do we contact? The room itself was very nice & we looked over the river. Although, there were pubs beside and opposite us, it was very nice & quiet. We used the air conditioning a lot & it was brilliant. The best thing about the place in this hot weather. We would have preferred a separate shower, but shower over the bath is fine if there had been a handrail to cling to. It was a struggle getting our cases up & down the stairs. No one to ask for assistance, in fact staff walked by us & did not help. Breakfast appeared nice, but did not come up to the price charged. Very cramped, no personal service, as previously stated, a lot of food put on a higher shelf over a very temperamental toaster. No bacon - 'take it or leave it' attitude. I saw fruit bowls served on top self, having film put over them, stored & used the next day, then strawberries certainly not fresh. Not good enough for this type of establishment. Staff coming in having breakfast with us, Not really correct. I booked this place because of the advertised description, but sure there could have been better places at lower prices. Slightly disappointed, expected more! Would not book again, but would recommend with provisos.

Fabulous location on the river and situated next to an excellent restaurant. Room was excellent only improvement I would like to see was hand rails for assistance in getting in and out of the bath when using shower. Us over 70s get a little nervous stepping unassisted over the side of a bath. Air conditioning unit was a real bonus as we had very hot weather.

This accommodation is situated on Ely’s riverfront with a restaurant to the side and a pub across the way. Notwithstanding this we found the accommodation to be surprisingly quiet. Our room was clean, spacious and airy and remained nice and cool on what was a really hot day. It did have air conditioning but it was not needed. The bed was comfy and we slept well. It was self check in based on an email sent the day before and this was trouble free. Breakfast was good with tea and coffee freshly served. We enjoyed our stay.

The Riverside Inn is a designer led B&B which seems to set more store on appearance rather than customer experience . In a luxury room at nearly £200 a night we were unable to use the shower as there are no grab rails or hand rails round the bath, the breakfast was poor on a this is what there is , take it or leave it basis. Having to reach over top of a hot toaster access the bread felt like an accident waiting to happen . No personal contact , everything literally contactless. Shame as the location is lovely . I am sure there are better alternatives in Ely. Would not use again.

First ever visit to Ely, won't be our last. Stopped and had lunch at the Riverside Inn and sat outside in the sunshine watching life go by. Food was ok, typical pub fare which is no criticism. Very pleasant afternoon.

Everything was beautiful. Everything you needed was provided. The whole place was clean and beautifully decorated to an excellent standard. Would definitely come again and recommend it to family and friends. The view from our window looked down the river. We sat with a coffee looking out watching the boats go up and down. Enjoyed going out and trying the different restaurants. It’s a shame we only booked two nights. Will definitely come back.
