I booked a £330 spa day for my mum’s birthday for the three of us (me, my mum, and my sister), and honestly, it was one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we felt uncomfortable. The swimming pool area is completely visible from the café through huge glass windows, so everyone sitting there can watch you while you’re supposed to be relaxing. To make things worse, you have to walk through the café and reception area in your robes to get to the “spa,” which felt really awkward. The whole place felt dirty and unhygienic — definitely not what you’d expect for the price. We were taken to the steam room for what we thought were facials, but it turned out we had to apply our own face masks. This was never made clear when booking. We were given two tubs to share between us with no applicators, meaning everyone was dipping their hands into the same pots… very unhygienic. Inside the steam room, the light kept flashing on and off every few seconds, which made it impossible to relax and actually left us feeling stressed. Both my sister and I also burned our feet on a hot steam outlet on the floor — there were no warning signs or staff instructions about this. To top it off, my sister came out of her massage in pain and has since been struggling with her shoulder. I took photos of the facilities because what we experienced was nothing like what’s shown online or what we were sold. The whole thing was stressful, poorly managed, and absolutely not worth the money. I’d strongly advise anyone considering booking here to look elsewhere — definitely not the luxury, relaxing spa experience they advertise.

A lovely relaxing hotel. Very clean. All Staff friendly and welcoming but Diane on reception and Abbey in dining area go above and beyond. Meals in the restaurant tasty and a great variety breakfast. Thank you for making it an enjoyable stay.

The receptionist when we checked in to the hotel room, she a young lady wasn't helpful at all, she didn't inform us where to go for our evening meal or anything. And seem remotely bothered about our issues, no apology or nothing. Also the staff in the spa reception were quite abrupt and not very welcoming to us. There was a broken tile and also a wobbly tile which was dangerous near the foot spa. Broken tiles in the steam room also. When we arrived in the spa area around 12.30, there was empty glasses left on the tables outside and was still there when we went back outside at 5.15. Our massages were very good and we compliment the ladies who gave us those. Our evening meal and breakfast were absolutely delicious so compliments to the chef. The cleanliness of the windows in our room were not ideal, had children's handprints on them. Unfortunately there were cobwebs in the restaurant in various places, which wasn't ideal. It felt like the hotel was overall in desperate need of a refresh.

My husband booked to stay here for my birthday. We had a lovely relaxing stay. The staff were friendly and professional and make you feel welcome. There is definitely an aura of calm throughout the hotel and the grounds are beautiful, full of trees and wildlife. Reception staff were welcoming and warmly greeted us. The spa facilities are ok, I liked the garden room and herbal sauna, although I was disappointed there was no jacuzzi. There is a tranquility area where you can go and relax after your massage but there was a noisy air conditioning unit in there and no music playing so it was a bit off putting. There was nice cold water available that was regularly topped up. It was my husband’s first time getting a massage and he was nervous but the lady made him feel at ease. I had a wonderful facial from Marcus, it was the best facial I’ve had! I left that room feeling like I was floating! He was really friendly and respectful, even bringing me a glass of water afterwards. The food was excellent, I felt it was a little on the pricey side but we had a voucher included in our stay so it wasn't too bad. The room was comfortable but dated, I was disappointed that there was no conditioner or moisturiser in the room either, and no little extras like cotton buds etc however there was body wash and shampoo provided. The shower is nice, powerful and adjustable shower head. The bed was really comfortable and we slept well. There was no drinking water in the room, there is a tap outside the room with still and sparkling water ‘on draught’ but this was very warm and undrinkable. There was an ice bucket provided but nowhere to get ice from. Breakfast was great and very delicious! Overall we had a nice stay here, and we left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Thank you

This is the second time we have stayed here in a number of years. The hotel is in beautiful settings but sadly tired and in need of an upgrade. The staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient. A special mention to the breakfast staff and in particular Elizabeth who gave us excellent customer service.
