Charming 4 Bedroom home in the heart of Elgin

Beautiful old craftsman home that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our kids loved the game room. The beds were very comfortable. The only down side were trains going through Elgin at 5am. The host provided white noise machines which was a lovely touch but it doesn’t help much with the train horns. Other than that we loved the home!

We traveled to Elgin the weekend of July 4th to celebrate my son's wedding, being held at The Highland Loft. This was the PERFECT spot. It was 10 minute walk to the venue, as well as downtown Elgin bars, coffee shops and restaurants. We drove into town, and the property had enough space for 2 cars in the driveway. There was ample street parking around the house, plus a very nice public parking lot about 4 blocks away. We had grocery shopping to do, and there are loads places within close driving distance. The house is gorgeous with so much wood and leaded glass windows -- it felt like stepping back in time, but with all the amenities we've come to expect. It was a very hot weekend, but the air conditioning worked great and the numerous ceiling fans made it very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, as did the 2.5 bathrooms. Caleb was very responsive to our questions, before and during our trip, and we would definitely stay here again if traveling to Elgin.

Nice older home, Plenty of space Nice property, big rooms. As noted in earlier reviews there are some steep steps so if mobility is a problem this might not be for you. 2 block walk from the downtown area where families were biking and playing so neighborhood seemed safe after we were initially unsure. Lots of good restaurants close. The parking spot is tight so if you have a large vehicle you may have to park in the street but there was ample of that. Overall we were very happy with our stay. Host is great and will respond to your questions quickly. There is a train that goes by at night but white noise machines help a lot with that. We will defiantly stay again if in the area.
