"We went to the Wirtshaus restaurant last night and the experience was broadly positive. The dining room has been tastefully refurbished and is welcoming and pleasant. It is also dog friendly which is a positive. However, after a satisfactory meal, we got a surprise when the bill was brought. A carafe of tap water, at most 1 litre, was charged at €4.50, the first time I have EVER been charged for tap water in Austria. We had also ordered beer and wine, which were charged separately, so water was not the only beverage on the bill. When the charge was challenged, the waiter commented that it was the owners' policy, although he appeared apologetic for it. Ah well, that will be the last time that I pay for tap water in a country where you could buy 5 litres in a supermarket for half that price, or from any stream for nothing."

"We so enjoyed our visit to Hotel Stern. Lovely people. Lovely place Delicious food. Breakfast was delicious. Very convenient location right in town. Beautiful views from the balcony. "This is a lovely hotel in Ehrwald. We've stayed for 2 nights and were upgraded to a bigger room upon arrival which was very nice! The room was on the 3rd floor very modern and clean with great views on the Zugspitze and the village. (We were facing the main road but as the windows were very well sealed when closed we didn't hear anything - if it is something that bothers you ask for a room facing the back of the hotel when booking) The location is right in the middle of the village with great access to anything you need (with a bakery and groceries stores next door) The staff were really nice and helpful, the breakfast was nice and they have a spa area with saunas and other facilities. The parking space can be filled quickly at the evenings - that will be my only "bad" thing to say. We will definitely be coming back to stay at this hotel."
