Popular Edinburgh 4-star Hotels

I've never stayed in a hostel before, let alone in a former jail revamped as one ! Besides the gimmick, the Court is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Edinburgh, whether on a budget or not : fantastic location near the St Giles cathedral (where city tours seemingly start from), super friendly staff and surprisingly clean amenities (first time experience in a hostel so I didn't know what to expect quite frankly). Would definitely recommend !

Amazing stay! Went to Edinburgh as a surprise for my husband's birthday. The staff went out of their way to make it special and even came to the room to wish him Happy Birthday, along with a card and prosecco! They were friends, welcoming and informative. A beautiful, modern hotel and they really have thought of everything (milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, water etc). Would highly recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you for making our stay extra special.

This hotel was great! Location was very good, close to main tourist attractions like the Royal Mile and close to major bus routes if you don’t feel like walking. The room felt very spacious and comfortable. It’s near great Chinese restaurants that someone who lives in China appreciates as the restaurants are run by Chinese people and the food tastes authentic and delicious. They also sell their own gin that is made on site and the gin is really good! If you like gin, try their 1505 and then buy a bottle. Very worth it!

Clean and relatively sizable room. Free self-service coffee at the bar (although that was not mentioned prior to check in). Food wise, not much of a variety at the bar. Walking distance from Princes Street.

We stayed as a family of 4 in the family room the night before my husbands 40th Birthday. There was a cake and decorations in the room on arrival and we had the most stunning view of the castle! We used the pool and then out for dinner in Edinburgh at night. We enjoyed the hotel breakfast the following morning. Overall we loved it and will hopefully make it a yearly tradition.

Great location, just a 3-minute walk from Edinburgh train station. The path to the station is smooth, making it convenient to wheel suitcases. The stairs behind the hotel lead to a stop for the tour bus, making it easy to reach various attractions. However, despite these conveniences, our stay was quite disappointing. We had booked two Superior Double Rooms, but upon our 3 PM arrival, the front desk informed us that only one room was available unless we were willing to wait until 10 PM. Unable to wait several hours, we had to accept a single room, which turned out to be very small and dark. The hotel's soundproofing is also extremely poor. You can hear every single word clearly from the neighbouring room. If your neighbours have noisy kids, it could ruin your stay. Loud children awakened me at 6 AM. Our experience fell well below our expectations given the hotel's pricing. I do not recommend it.

Stayed her for three nights October 2022 with the Scotland Rugby League team prior to the Rugby League World Cup. What a great find this hotel was. Spotlessly clean and so very comfortable. Bedrooms roomy and the beds as comfortable as you can get. The food was excellent, and they catered for our every need. The breakfasts were amazing and the service was beyond reproach . Special shout out to our servers Chez, Shannon and the boss Karen. Could not have been better. A massive thank you and a great start to our World Rugby League Cup campaign . Defo use this hotel again.

Awful hotel that is definitely not 4* and the service is not at Hilton level at all…. The hotel goes under the renovation and there were only 2 lifts with queues and they are also used by the staff too We had a room for 3 people and had all set up for two people only, the room was dirty with hair in the shower and the ceiling. When I took the shower the pipe was blocked and the water started to leak to the bathroom… yes they sorted the problem quite quickly but still was not great experience There were no slippers and bathrobes. I asked for x3 slippers and they brought only one pair. I asked again and they brought only one pair again. On the third time they brought two pairs…. When I asked for 3!!! And still no bathrobes. We asked for additional blanket and it was in a random location after the room was cleaned. The room was cleaned badly on the next day we stayed. My pajamas was thrown elsewhere and I found it on the table, the towels we put on the floor to be replaced were fold dirty on the shelves… the blanket was in a random location and the cleaner did not pay any attention at all left the room dirty. Very disrespectful I felt that I had to beg for the things we are supposed to get in this kind of hotels. Shocking!!! Yes they compensated with a complimentary breakfast which was good but still the service was bad. They sent the cleaner and by the time she came we were already sleeping. Amazing stay at Market Street Hotel! The room was superbly located just opposite the Edinburgh train station. It is fully accessible via lifts, so you do not have to worry about lugging the luggage through any stairs. It is opposite the train station yet the rooms are soundproof and quiet. The room was clean and beautifully furbished. The concierge Miles was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is also conveniently-located near to the Royal Mile. I highly recommend this hotel to all travelers.

After staying in a number of hotels in Edinburgh, Novotel Edinburgh Park is definitely of highest quality in this price range. The location is perfect if you are working outside of the city but want to still experience the city centre at night. Edinburgh Park train station and tram stop are very close to the hotel with frequent services to neighbouring towns and Waverley station (city centre). The train is quickest to Waverley at only 9 mins and costs as little as £2.70 at super off peak times for a return ticket. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean. There are hundreds of channels on the 55” TVs. The beds are comfy and there is a temperature regulator fan (not air conditioning). The bathrooms are clean and well furnished. Executive rooms get some more toiletries than standard rooms. Some rooms have baths and some have stand-in showers. (Maybe you can note your preference when booking) Breakfast is definitely worth paying for. There’s a huge selection of food options, something for everyone. Hot food and continental style breakfast is offered and is a buffet style. The restaurant is large but can be very busy in the evenings. Car parking is offered at a member rate (Accor ALL account holders) of £6 per day. I would rate the hotel very highly, after staying here a number of times over the past few months and with more bookings in the not so distant future. I look forward to returning!
