Edgar Hotel Martha's Vineyard, Ascend Hotel Collection

I always appreciate honest reviews and photos so I can choose what is best for me and my family when traveling. here is my best assessment. this "hotel" is more "motel", which is fine, it should just be advertised as such. walking distance to downtown edgartown, adjacent to grocery store. staff have very little involvement in your stay. no overnight staff. lobby looks same as, say, a safelight repair or jeep dealership entrance. everything was clean, staff were friendly when they were around. nice bedding. there were blinds but no shades so at sunrise the room is full of light. bathroom very old school holiday inn. great water pressure, great hot water temps. towels, toiletries, not so impressive. this was our issue - we paid A LOT to stay one night as I was working in town and needed a place to get a good night's rest. this was not to be had, as the second floor guests partied all night long in the hallways. with no staff after 11PM, i asked them to be mindful that we were not in a dormitory, but the noise and partying continued until 4:30AM. we would have been better sleeping in our jeep.

The property was clean and the staff was very nice. The rooms were spacious and nice. The location is great because it was in walking distance to a grocery store, restaurants, shopping, and public transportation. I would definitely stay at the Edgar Hotel again!

Property is nice enough and staff is nice, location is good. However there is a restaurant and bar attached that pump music and bass until after 11pm on weeknights, we were here for work and the speakers for the bar are directly attached to room 201. Even with ear plugs sleep is impossible due to the bass, we told the staff that we had to be up at 5am for work and were told there were no options to move rooms.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The dinner at the Restaurant was delicious. The room was nice, I love the echo friendly practices.

Clean, well furnished rooms for less Money than most places on the island. The location is perfect- closes to downtown (1/2 mile) and many restaurants are within immediate vicinity. Also close to a great bike rental place, which also was priced very reasonably. And there is a bus stop nearby in case you don’t bring your car over.and the buses are free for the summer!

While booking our trip to Martha's Vineyard, I quickly reserved a room due to the competitive pricing compared to other hotels. The rooms appeared nicely appointed based on the photos. Since my friend had mobility issues, I called ahead to confirm a first-floor room, and the hotel staff assured me that would not be a problem. However, upon arrival, the situation was very different. Due to renovations, there were few first-floor rooms available, and the ones open were already occupied. The front desk tried to accommodate us with separate King rooms that did not adjoin, or a two-queen room on the 2nd floor, which was difficult for my friend. After much thought, we settled on the two-queen room to spend time together (which was the purpose of our trip). Once in the room, we faced additional issues - the heat wasn't working initially, the coffee maker malfunctioned, and the TV was challenging to operate. The hotel staff worked to resolve these problems. Additionally, the on-site restaurant was closed for breakfast, though the website had indicated it was available. Despite the challenges, the hotel staff's efforts to assist us were appreciated, and we were able to have an enjoyable stay overall.
