The George is a very attractive old pub in the centre of the lovely village of Easingwold. The hotel has limited parking but there is usually plenty of free parking in the Market Place. Check in was friendly and efficient and our King Room (no 12) is spacious and very smart. The usual tea and coffee facilities are provided but, rather unusually, there wasn’t a solitary biscuit between us. Perhaps they just forgot. After a lovely sleep in a most comfy bed, our Full English breakfast was as good as I recall, and satisfied my three basic requirements of a cooked breakfast, ie top quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and nicely presented - and special mention must be made of the sausage and black pudding which were excellent. The only blip, and a bit of a surprise, was the lack of any fruit options to start. We travel rather a lot, both in the U.K. and overseas, and whether we are staying in top hotels or humble B&Bs there is always a fruit option at breakfast, be it a fruit salad, a basket of fruit or even if it’s just some tinned grapefruit, so it seemed really strange that in a quality hotel like the George they don’t offer that option. Perhaps it’s something they might consider. This was our third stay at the George and, once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It’s a cosy hotel in a lovely location and the service throughout was friendly and very efficient. We will certainly come back.
