The setting of the inn on the shore of Eagle Lake is spectacular and the original inn building is over a century old and has great potential. Sadly, though, the property has been poorly maintained and the neglect is obvious, inside and out. Our guest room, #6 in the main building, is spacious and includes a wood-burning fireplace and screened porch with views over the lake. But the bathroom was dated and very dirty - it obviously hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in a very long time. The shower fixture above the jacuzzi tub was difficult to use and provided a pitiful spray. The rubber mat in the tub was marked with black mold. The two chairs in the bedroom were more suitable for dining than for lounging. On the plus side, the two staff people that we interacted with at the front desk and in the dining room were very pleasant. And the one dinner and two breakfasts that we had in the Twin Fires dining room were quite good (except for the mold discovered on an English muffin one morning at breakfast). We paid close to $1000 for two nights of accommodation, dinner for the two of us one evening and breakfasts for the both of us each morning. Some serious money and effort needs to be expended on this place (not to mention vastly improving the housekeeping standards!) to bring the inn close to justifying that price point!

I had booked a week at Sir Sam's hoping to relax in the fall colors, and they really delivered! My accommodations were cozy and with a gorgeous view, and any issues or questions I had were quickly addressed by the wonderful staff. The food, both at breakfast and dinner, was really delicious in a great atmosphere. I highly recommend booking a spa treatment with Anca, as someone with chronic pain it is rare to find someone that figures just the right amount of force needed to soothe without hurting. The waterspa circuit was also a treat after a day spent hiking. Most of all, the people working here are the real treasure, always helpful with a smile and with visible love for the place. I recommend this inn for those who want relaxation in a rustic, well-loved cottage over the lake.

Wow - so extremely disappointed!!! We have stayed at Sir Sam's twice before, the latest being 15 years ago. This place has deteriorated immensely. Unfortunately, the owner has not spent any money on renovating, paint, furnishings, carpet, cleanliness or upkeep on this entire property. This is no longer a 5 or even a 4 star Inn. A lot of money needs to be spent to upgrade the rooms, furnishings, outdoor furniture, and exterior of the buildings, including roofing. Our room was very small, not clean and in dire needs of upgrading. The food was good with the exception of one meal (my salmon was dry and had no flavour) and the beds were comfortable. Our room at Glen Eagle North was so dated, dirty, with no view of the lake at all. The Twin Eagles dining room had rubber chair covers, the floor was not clean and long gone are the days of a white linen tablecloth. The servers no longer wear a distinct uniform of white shirt, black pants. Even the WaterSpa is in need of some attention. Sad to say, unless serious upgrades are made to the entire facility, we will not be returning

Wow ..... this place could be a 5 star but the potential is sadly lost. We went for a quick getaway earlier this week. On the positive side, the staff were FANTASTIC, the food was AMAZING and the bed in our room was very comfortable. Those were the good things. But the resort itself is desperately in need of repair and you have to wonder why the owner is choosing to neglect it so much. The shower in our room wasn't working, despite the repairman doing his best to get it going; it needs an entirely new fixture and you have to wonder how long it has been like that. The carpeting in the entire resort is worn out. The deck needs sanding and painting; the deck tables are wobbly or broken and none of the chairs match. I was told by a staff member that the roof also needs repair. Wow. Fortunately, the pool and beach areas were clean, since that was a main attraction for us to go there. But because of the rest of the premises situation, we won't be returning.

This resort needs an update badly. The rooms are all very old and dated. Also very dark and possibly geared more towards a winter get away? The grounds need maintenance. I fell in a hole in the lawn while walking from the room to the main building. The beach is nice and view is beautiful. The bar is also old and dated and not a very good selection of wine.. The restaurant was nice. My husband enjoyed his chicken but I found the salmon way too "fishy". Our waiter Stephen was great!. The water "spa" is not worth paying for. Also very old and dated and dirty. We paid $389 for a night which included breakfast. Breakfast was great! We both thought it was was too steep. Maybe $200 a night would have been more reasonable for a place like this. The staff were all friendly, new girl on desk was great.

The resort is very dated and really worn. The room we were in needed to be updated badly. There is no air conditioning in the rooms so we had to have all the windows open. The people below us were heavy smokers and the smoke rises and the breeze blew it all in to our room so we had to shut the windows. It is not worth it for the prices they charge. The food was good.

We enjoyed our stay and most of the amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic with large portions. However our accommodations seen dated and worn and the overall condition of the inn seem the same. The spa was the same. The best part was the food and the hour boat ride. Bill the boat captain was also the morning chef he was fantastic. Our 2 night stay I would rate it 7.5 out of 10

We stayed at the inn for one night, the setting by the lake was just so relaxing, the property is well maintained considering is almost 100 years old. The indoor pool and spa were very clean and not busy, which was really appreciated . They had kayaks, canoes and paddle-board available for the guest, and a nice little sandy beach was accessible for swimming. The best part of our stay was dinning at the restaurant, wonderful food with and a extensive wine list. We strongly recommend this small resort out of the way.
