Crown Inn at Tolldown

From the moment we arrived with our Lurcher & Podenco Kirstie made us feel very welcome! She is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We had dinner and have to say the food was excellent. All the way through the evening, Kirstie was attending to all guests and supporting the team (Think one member of staff was new). The room is brilliant and a high standard with lovely finishing touches! Would definitely recommend and will stay again! Thank you!

Stayed one night with breakfast and evening meal. Seamless check-in online. Lovely welcome, room delightful, spotlessly clean, lovely facilities including a cafetiere. The Sunday roast was delicious and generous. Breakfast was also good. Will definitely stay again when breaking up journey to Cornwall. All staff are really friendly and helpful.

With our 12 fellow Cotswold Way walkers we stayed here. The rooms were spacious and comfy, and beautifully decorated. The restaurant was a fantastic blend of traditional pub and updated. The meals (breakfast and dinner) were one of the two best meals we’ve had! Service was great and the food delicious.

The customer service and welcome was very friendly. Evening meals were very good along with choice of wine/beer etc. We stayed in a Standard/Superior Double Ensuite which was comfortable and clean. Good sized car parking right outside of the rooms.

Favorite stay of walking the Cotswolds Way. Pub has a great feel and food was excellent. Rooms are in a small annex and are well appointed, cute and comfortable. Shower is definitely one of the better ones (appreciated after a long day of walking).

We had an impromptu family lunch here due to a combination of broken down cars and an m4 closure stuffing up our original plan. We’ve driven past the Crown Inn many times but from now on it will now be a planned visit. So - on to the food. It’s literally amazing - hands down the best pub food we’ve had in the south west in years. Our table had fish and chips, the hummus and pita, a breakfast bap, soup of the day and it was all really fantastic. I had the pear and beetroot starter with whipped feta and it was 10/10 for presentation and flavour - easily on par with a high end restaurant. The menu prices were £10 to £26 for mains which I felt was very reasonable given the quality of food and service. As a Butcombe Inn there’s a small but good range of ales on draught - I had the draught alcohol free ale which was so good I had to ask the server if it was definitely non alcoholic. Our bill was £177 including service for a party of 6 including some drinks. We’re delighted to have stumbled across the Crown and will be back again.
