"Hotel was in great condition and pool was clean. Room was spacious with well stocked kitchenette cooking utensils. Everyone was courteous including breakfast staff making sure we had enough before closing up. Location was convenient to get to the Walkway over Hudson and other Poughkeepsie areas. It is in a local shopping plaza but we stayed during weekdays and it was not congested. Parking in the hotel lot can get full but there are plenty of shopping spots close by if needed. My only annoyance was the air conditioning system as can get noisy if you are a light sleeper."

Troutbeck
"Overall, Troutbech was a pleasant, though very expensive experience. My partner and I stayed in the main house, which is old but charming. The waitstaff were attentive and pleasant. The grounds are immaculately groomed and provide places to sit and peacefully contemplate nature. The amenities, e,g., pool, spa, sauna, gym, are located in separate buildings and are excellent. But then you are paying a $35 per day resort fee whether you use those facilities - or not. The breakfasts are good and bargain-priced. Except for the coffee. However Troutbech offers free drip coffee in the morning with unlimited refills and it is as good as Starbuck’s dark roast, VERONA blend. So the strategy is to get your free coffee and bring it to the breakfast table. We only ate one dinner at Troutbech and it was expensive! I had the Pork entree, which was delicious, while my partner had the Steelhead Trout, which was not. Steelhead Trout is not a true trout; it tastes like a bland Atlantic Salmon. It was disappointing and not worth $44 . There were other flaws. We ordered two Cappuccinos at the bar and they tasted like warm water. No flavor whatsoever! My guess is their coffee beans are too old and have lost their flavor. At $8 a pop this is unforgivable. Lastly, the mattress in our room was way too soft for my taste. Almost no support. Also, the TV service would not access CNN or any other cable channels. All it showed was “ The View,” So would I go back? No. While Troutbech has its charm, $500 per day (plus taxes) is too much to pay given its flaws."

"The hotel is in a good location, with several hotels nearby and dining is very convenient. There is a Walmart and a gas station across the street. When I first entered the room, I wiped the bedside table and basin with a disinfectant wipe. They were very clean and I felt very good. After washing my hands and drying them with a small towel, I found a long hair on my hands. I thought it was dropped by myself and didn't pay attention to it. When I wiped my hands at night, I found two more. The color was very light. I realized that they were Western hairs. I was immediately upset. Because of the language barrier, communication was not very convenient, so I endured it."

"Bob, the owner, has created a true country inn. Additionally he is a most gracious host and a raconteur who has lived a most fascinating life. Nothing is ruched here. Take time to talk to Bob and hear the story of the Inn. There is rich history in the inn’s walls and it is furnished with care to historical detail. The rooms are large and the beds truly comfortable. Take some time and relax on the back porch. You are only twenty minutes from CIA, and ten from the mountains and the majestic Hudson. Bob knows everyone and will gladly help you find a great meal. I recommend this beautiful stop highly."

"Hotel was cleared and staffs were very friendly. Though the complimentary breakfast options were a bit limited, they do have a pancake machine that makes fresh pancakes in front of you each morning! There were also a good variety of complimentary hot beverages offered to hotel guests all day long. The hotel is conveniently located along the local bus route. Anyone staying here and doesn't want to drive for whatever reason, the bus stop is easily accessible on foot."

"This hotel is very beautiful and quiet. Our room was amazing: the kitchen had a full refrigerator, the sitting area was very comfortable, and the bed was one of the best I've slept in at a hotel. I only wish that the shower in the bathroom had a full door rather than a half glass wall. No matter what you do, the water gets out and it's hard to stay warm without a closing door. I didn't care for the restaurant very much, but the rest of the hotel was wonderful. The exercise room is extremely well-equipped for those who want to get a workout in while traveling."
