Fantastic hotel just outside of town centre. Far more superior and great value. Lovely staff and spotlessly clean throughout. Nice quality food and bar area. I always stay in this hotel when working in Northampton. 11/10 Neil Winstone Alfriston East Sussex

We stayed here for two nights and had dinner both times. Exceptional food with some of the tastes being extraordinary and unique. Dessert presentation was an art form. The staff were very friendly and kind, very hard-working, and went out of their way to ensure taxis arrived for us and that we had everything we needed. The location is leafy without being countryside. This is not billed as a four or five star hotel. The Hopping Hare markets itself as a four star inn. That is correct - there were no mattress toppers and the double bed the first night was a narrow one. There is also no separate check-in desk for the rooms; you check in at the bar and consequently the check-in process feels a little less welcoming than in some high quality hotels where staff appear, at least, to take an interest. The checking in is just one more job the bar staff have to do on top of their ongoing duties at the bar. On the other side of things though, both rooms had wonderful en-suites and fabulous deep baths, something you can't count on getting in high-end hotels. The Hopping Hare is not overly expensive and we would stay here again.
