We spent one night while visiting the college. Easy walking distance from train station and town. It is at "edge of town". A nicely kept inn. Staff were pleasant and we needed little assistance other than checking in at desk. The room was cute and comfortable. There is a restaurant and pub but we did not eat there. The bed was comfortable and shower with good heat/pressure.

I stayed here on the last leg of a solo road trip and it was a very relaxing atmosphere to end my trip. My check-in staff member was wonderful and even helped me carry my bags to my room. I stayed in a King room in the building beside the main office. Bed was comfy and room was spacious. Many restaurants deliver through DoorDash to the hotel, which was very convenient. Breakfast was a standard continental cold breakfast (fruit, yogurt, juice) with a Belgian wafflemaker. It was simple, but tasty. Would stay here again.

We were traveling from Maine to home and wanted to break up the trip a bit. This Inn in the college town of Durham was so much better than an interstate hotel. The Inn was clean and comfortable and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend this wonderful Inn!

We were on a brief getaway trip to New Hampshire and Maine and spent a night here. The front desk clerk was friendly and informative. She took the time to escort us to our room, which was located in the building next store. Our king room was beautifully decorated and the exposed beams made us feel like we were really in a 1700s-era home. The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the gas fireplace The Tavern consists of a cozy bar area and dining rooms. After our drinks, we had a delicious prime rib steak dinner. The only criticism is the continental breakfast. Would like to have seen a larger assortment of pastries.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with our stay in October. We stayed in a Deluxe King room and it was quite roomy with a lovely fireplace and nice tub - perfectly cozy for a cool autumn night. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we were kindly given vouchers for a complimentary breakfast the next morning. We loved getting to explore the surrounding town as well. This was a perfect stay!

It only took us four years to decide and give it a try. Our daughter goes to UNH and we usually stay at a chain hotel located in Portsmouth or Dover. We were happy we gave it a try. It's a beautiful old building with lots of history, character, and charm. Definitely romantic! The grounds were well maintained and picturesque. We booked our one night reservation on line and checked in with no issues. Our room was located in the second building and the room was bigger than we expected. Lots of character in the room. Old wooden beams on the ceiling, wood floors, etc. Everything worked to perfection and the bed was very comfortable. Our stay was during a heat wave and the air conditioning worked very well. We weren't able to grab a meal because the tavern was closed for a wedding party. We were a bit disappointed with the continental breakfast served to our room in the morning. It consisted on plastic bottles of orange juice, oranges, yogurt, granola, plastic wrapped muffins, and a package of wrapped hard boiled eggs. No coffee or tea. Our room had a Keurig with only two Keurig cups. It would have been great if the Inn had served a hot breakfast in the restaurant but most likely due to Covid, it wasn't possible. On the other hand, it would have been nice to have the Inn partner with a local bakery and serve a basket of fresh muffins, bagels, croissants, hot coffee, etc. The price of the Inn for the night was very reasonable and there was plenty of parking in their private lot. Staff was friendly. Location was very close to downtown Durham, UNH, and a few miles from downtown Newmarket. I certainly understand why this place would be great for a wedding. We already booked a stay for a night on our next visit in mid-August.

Came here for Mother's Day Brunch with our senior mom who has mobility challenges. Rather than accommodating us with an upstairs table we were sent down a path and stairs to the tavern to a high top table in the dark. There was no empathy nor critical thinking from the staff for our mom who was walking with a cane. P.S. Read their absolutely insensitive and inaccurate response as well as their response to most one star ratings. So, if I have this straight...we arrive with our elderly mom from out of state at 11:30a when the restaurant was absolutely empty. The grandmother with the hip replacement who was our hostess should have known better than to send an 87yo gma herself walking with a cane down a steep ramp and steps to the tavern. Yet we trusted her only to be greeted by a locked door and equally surly staff down below. Did we protest this treatment? Heck yeah! Were we justified? Absolutely! Our repeated entreaties to be accommodated better were greeted with a "all the tables are reserved, you should have requested this upon booking." It was only after I demanded an accessible table did one materialize. Were the other guests aware this had happened? Those around us saw what ensued and were empathetic. Why would I write letters to the paper in Portsmouth, Fosters, Durham and send a letter to the restaurant safety inspector for the town? Because this restaurant was in violation of its right to operate without proper access and accommodation. It is often said that tone at the top matters. The leaders of this inn are clearly tone deaf. Thankfully there are so many wondeful places in the area to eat. We are back often as our mom is nearby in senior living. Everyone there has heard our story. Not that it matters to Three Chimney but after dining globally for forty years they get the prize for unempathetic staff. Good luck if you try to eat there. And good riddance to rude restaurants!

We only spent one night here, but enjoyed our stay. The room was large and spotless, and featured a gas fireplace (along with conventional heating), which added to the cozy atmosphere. Dinner at the Tavern was quite good. In addition, they called to inform us we had left an item of clothing behind, which they promptly mailed to us.

We recently stayed overnight and loved this place. The Staff are so nice and helpful. Stayed in room 19 in the carriage house. Very spacious room and bathroom. And the bed was soo comfortable. Charming place and the grounds are lovely. We only had a drink at the bar but it was charming and a really good drink. Young man making them was very personable. We will return.
