The hotel was decent and we were hopeful. Something made a clanging noise at some intervals all night long. Maybe it was the refrigerator. It woke me up a few times in the middle of the night. The bed was hard. The parking lot is very small and fills up early. Breakfast was good, with the usual items. The egg white omelette was very good. Other items they had were scrambled eggs, sausage, English muffins, bagels, sliced bread, pancakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, fruit yogurt, milk and chocolate milk, coffee, and juices. On the weekends, it started at 7. It seemed like many people were waiting for it including us as we had to make it to our next adventure on time.

We stayed here for two nights. I booked because it was on the river and close to downtown. Like other reviewers have mentioned, you do have to cross a pretty busy street and walk two blocks to get to the downtown area. Not terrible, but something to keep in mind. The hotel itself has a nice little parking garage to park in. Breakfast was well stocked and typical of a holiday inn. When we arrived to our first room, there was pet hair all over the bedspread and underneath the sheets. We were offered to change the sheets ourselves (front desk attendant said they weren’t “trained” to do that… girl, same.) or move to another room. Obviously we took a different room. It felt cleaner with the exception of few hairs on the bathroom floor.

Overall, this is a nice hotel with great amenities. The breakfast was great with a wonderful view of the river. The location is nice on the Animas river Trail. However, to get to downtown you have to cross a pretty busy roadway. It is a little separated from the downtown area. My children use the pool and it was clean with windows overlooking the river. Bottom line, this is a great hotel however, if you want ease of access to the downtown, I would stay elsewhere.

We spent an enjoyable 5 nights at the hotel in late May. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival from Cheryl at the front desk who was helpful throughout our stay, as were other front desk staff. Spacious room (#224) with comfortable beds and pillows. Our room was overlooking the Animas River and had a narrow balcony with a chair at each end. Plenty of car park space. Complimentary breakfast available including some hot food options. Ideally located as a short walk from Main Avenue in Downtown Durango for bars and restaurants and a Natural Food shop/beer and wine outlet adjacent, with Walgreens and a large Supermarket over the road

Both of the front desk workers were super nice and helpful. When we checked in, we were upgraded to a river-view room. It offered such a beautiful view of the river and mountain behind it. It’s located right by some restaurants, very convenient. The workout room was very nice. The continental breakfast was really good too. We are going back to Durango again this month and already rescheduled a room for our next stay there.

Lovely!
Lovely hotel overlooking the River. Great location. Walkable to all the shops and restaurants in the historic district. Staff was very helpful and gave some great recommendations of things to see and do.

Everything was good except the beds were too firm. Felt like I was sleeping on the floor. Other than that, it was a good stay.
