I would not recommend this hotel based on principle. The owner only cares about the money and not his guest. My husband and I are elderly. We booked 2 nights at the Super 8 hotel in Durango Co. We paid $298. The second night after an exhausting day on the Durango/Silverton train, we just wanted a good last night sleep before we set out for a 16 hour drive back home in Texas the next morning. What we got was this extremely annoying beeping that we could not find the source. The sound seemed to keep switching locations. It started around 12:48 am and throughout the night in morris code beeps. It would pause just long enough for me to think it stopped and barely start to fall asleep again, it would start all over. It was driving me crazy. In the morning, I told front desk about our sleepless night. I was asking for at least half the cost we paid for the second night to compensate. The owner came out like he was ready to argue. He was rude and said we were trying to trick him. The maintenance guy came in the morning and it was the electronic system on the door that was echoing throughout the room. The owner flipped it on us like it was our fault for not telling front desk and he said they have maintenance. I looked it up and 24 hour maintenance is not listed in their amenities. He obnoxiously asked if we would have had a better night sleeping in our car. To us, having beeping sounds wake us up over and over again all night and not knowing location of sound it it’s source was a pretty bad night. He gave no compensation and never apologized. Money was more important to him than making a first time guest feel like they cared.
