Xinpeng Express Hotel

The room was spacious and comfortable to stay in with a large table and chairs. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and bathroom were clean. There wasn't always a representative at the reception but the staff were very available via WeChat and helped us as much as they could. The hotel's location was great, we went to the night market on foot and walked around the city (far from the singing sands but there is Didi). It should be noted that it is difficult to find the entrance to the accommodation and you have to enter the parking area and find the entrance but the locals helped us find the place (pass the vehicle barrier, turn right, and after about 50 meters you will see on your right an entrance to a staircase with Chinese writing above it. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the entrance but I recommend the accommodation upload the picture. We searched for the place for about 10 minutes until we found it). Another thing that bothered us is that the room has a large carpet that gave a slightly unclean feeling even though the room was cleaned before we arrived because dirt got into its fibers.

I checked in late at this hotel, and with the help of the exterior photos on Trip.com I could quite easily find it. The room was quite adequate. The mattress is a bit hard (but I still slept well) and they use disposable towels, which I don't really like. But that is probably a choice to keep the price down. The very big plus of this hotel is the friendliness of the family-run staff and the willingness to help you. The wife of the man at the desk speaks English and can be contacted by phone or WeChat. They arranged a very affordable tour to Yadan National Park (and other sights west of Dunhuang) and also arranged for a shared taxi to Liuyuan (to take a train from there). They both went out of their way to help me. Therefore this hotel comes highly recommended!
