Southern Palms Beach Club

Pros fantastic location on a beautiful beach . Wonderful views . Large room which was clean . Live music in the evening which was rather cheesy but people were dancing to it Could walk to some ok restaurants Cons- vet poor amenities for a 4 star and pricey stay. Room had no hairdryer . Interestingly there was a kettle and cups but no coffee sachets or indeed anything to make a drink with. There is a room service menu but no working phone to order from.

Nice place but if you want anything to eat maybe take some tracker bars or something, the service is shocking, honestly do not go unless you like to be snarled at, awful rude arrogant people, they have now place for people who are spending thousands, this is why Turkey and Dubai are flying, the staff at this place are vile horrid people.

This was our first ever trip to Barbados and we chose Southern Palms based on it's location and great reviews. We were not disappointed! We booked an ocean view room and boy did we get an ocean view!! (The pictures attached to this review were taken from our balcony.) The room was huge, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and great pillows! Not that you want to spend any time in your room watching tv when you're in paradise but ours had a smart tv that had Netflix, Prime etc. so if you wanted to log into it, you could. Given the idyllic nature of it's location, you could be forgiven for thinking it'd be a struggle to get a sunbed either on the beach or around one of the pools but it wasn't. Yes, you still get those people that will go and put their towels out first thing and stake their claim on sunbeds they have no intention of using until several hours later BUT, there are plenty of sunbeds and lots of space so we never had an issue getting beds/finding a good spot regardless of the time of day we chose. I want to take the opportunity to give a shout out to Makayla who looked after us all week with drinks service. We literally did not have to leave our sunbeds whether we were on the beach or poolside, Makayla was making sure we could totally relax! We loved the idea of having a flag for use on the beach when you wanted to order something, that was really cool! The steel band on Sunday lunchtime was very good! We really enjoyed listening to them from the beach. We were on a room only basis so we only actually had 2 meals in the hotel (one breakfast and one lunch.) Both were very good and it was easy to charge things to the room ad-hoc given we opted not to book any meal packages. The location of the hotel in the gap was ideal for us. Nice and easy to wander out in the evenings with many bars and restaurants on the doorstep to choose from. All the staff we interacted with at the hotel were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. If you're looking for a stunning place to relax and re-charge your batteries, you couldn't go wrong with Southern Palms! We hope to go back as soon as we can!

There was a cockroach in our room, but only one. The bed was very small and uncomfortable. The rooms are very outdated but clean. The beach is beautiful, and the view from our room was outstanding. Their gift shop is a must-visit.

Feb our 50th wedding anniversary thought I would take my wife to a special place so booked here. I’m 73 years old this hands down was the worst experience I have ever had. 2 hours to get a drink had to go to bar to ask for it twice. They knew it was our special anniversary and still the worst service we have ever had. Our special day ended up being the biggest let down in 50 years. We had other friends that went there and had same experience. So sad that they really didn’t care I never wright reviewed ees but had to in this instance.

We are returning visitors to this lovely beachfront Hotel in The GAP. We requested the pool and ocean view room that we had last year and we were granted our request! The room is lovely - has a very large patio balcony area with a fridge and kettle. The room is air conditioned and cleaned well every day. It has had a new shower since Jan 2024 which was needed. The bar and restaurant is right on the beach - service is very 'laid back' to the point of being poor at times but we cant work out if we think its charming or in need of proper intervention now! We have waited on occasion for over 30 minutes to just get a drink! Lots of staff wandering around with pink and white chitties and not much action. Having said that , we would return as the beach is amazing and you just pull a couple of sunbeds under your own palm tree for the day and that to us is everything. Great location for bars and restaurants, cafes and breakfast places. The managers cocktail party every week is a great idea and we love that the staff remembered us from last year! We will be back.
