Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Dover

This was a horrible hotel! Can’t believe we paid over $200 for one night in this flea trap! Dingy halls, dirty carpet, stuffy rooms, very tiny spaces. No cups in the room. No plugs or lighting on the bedside tables. Mold growing on the corner wall. Minimal desk service. Breakfast bare bones.

Smelled funny in hallways. Key card worked poorly. Very small tv. No microwave in room had to go always down to lobby to use microwave. Dirty carpet. Dirty sofa bench. Good location. Front desk hospitable. Easy check in. Clean comfortable soft bed.

I wish I could give this hotel 5 stars, but there were a few too many tiny problems. First, the room was great, small but more than adequate for a couple. There was a hair dryer, an iron, loads of closet space. Very quiet, even though I was near the elevators. Plenty of towels. Pet friendly, as I saw, but did not hear, dogs. But the bedside clock was unplugged. Guests should not have to crawl under the nightstand to plug in the clock. The tv remote batteries were dead. Again, a simple fix of going down to the front desk, but annoying. The mattress was far too soft. At one point in time, I sold mattresses for a living. We never had anything approaching this level of softness on the sales floor. Mattresses should be upgraded to a medium firmness at the least. The current mattresses are too high for shorter people, and too soft for anyone with a mobility issue to maneuver on. The lack of USB ports is also a minus. Perhaps new bedside clocks that have ISB ports included? Or at least a more accessible outlet than behind the mini-fridge or under the nightstand or randomly on a wall where you would have to leave your electronics in the floor in the direct travel path of someone getting into bed. The staff were great, pleasant, polite, cheerful, and helpful. Cannot say enough good things about the staff. Just wish the management backed them up with better infrastructure.

Our stay was very nice. Front desk friendly and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves. I would stay here again for suer. I will recommend you to everyone. York Beach, Maine was only 20-30 minutes away and very easy to get to also Very pleased with it all.

Shame on *******. This room through ******* was $270 a night, with a 4.5 star rating. Way overpriced. No pool, no workout room, bathroom sink all cracked, beds very soft, you roll into the middle of the mattress. The breakfast area was dirty and the sink in the breakfast area was disgusting. Room smelled very stuffy, opened window but screen was all ripped. Would not recommend or stay again.

The property is looking a little tired, and we experienced a few problems here. 1. There were small brown stains on the mattress cover. 2. The drawers were dusty 3. The chair had had food spilled on it by a previous guest. The manager moved us to another room, which was in better condition. The bed was fine, and we spent the night. The breakfast consisted of rolls, bread, cereal, and packaged muffins, which seemed inadequate for a $140 room. Our final problem here was that our keycards did not work when we went back to the room after breakfast. We went to the desk clerk, and his master key card did not work either. When the manager arrived a little later, he was able to get into the room, explaining that the battery was failing. My overall impression was that the property isn't very well maintained. That and the breakfast can be improved. I hope the owners decide to invest in the property, because this part of NH needs more decent hotel options at a semi-reasonable price point. We had a second night scheduled at Microtel, but cancelled and booked at a different hotel nearby.

The hotel was excellent. Very clean and comfortable. Max was very helpful in suggesting great local restaurants and helping us find hotels for the rest of our road trip vacation. They are going to update the lobby and rooms soon. I would definitely stay here again.
