The Sands Beach Resort
"Our stay at The Sands Beach Resort was absolutely wonderful and exceeded all our expectations. The resort is located on a beautiful and very quiet part of the beach, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The room was incredibly comfortable, spotless, and beautifully decorated. The entire staff went above and beyond with their hospitality, always ready to help with a warm smile. The food was also delicious, especially the fresh grilled fish. I highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Zanzibar. We cannot wait to come back!"
Baraza Resort and Spa Zanzibar
"We stayed at Baraza resort & Spa for 5 nights following a Rwanda and Uganda wildlife focused trip. It was the most perfect stay, the main focus on our trip was wildlife viewing so the time in Zanzibar and our hotel choice received less focus, but we couldn’t have been happier. We stayed in an ocean front villa (No.7) with direct access to the beach and our own private pool. The villa was amazing and spacious in Arabic influence, a theme consistent throughout the resort. The aircon was amazing, the various lounge areas, inside and out were appreciated and used. The bed was so comfortable and fully stocked mini bar with various complementary drinks refreshed each day. Our arrival was approx 10pm and two trays of snacks, fresh fruit, sandwiches were in our Villa waiting for our arrival. Very minor point, the loungers in the Villa could have been a tad more comfortable, but that’s a minor issue really. The toiletries, whilst they were in refillable bottles, we found them really good quality. On the beach there were two reserved sun loungers that we used on many days, with full service even though we were towards the end of the hotel beach grounds, we were never forgotten and within 5 minutes of settling down, water, drinks and any snacks we wanted were available. The service was amazing throughout and very personalised whilst not being intrusive, Ester the food and beverage manager was a star, she always knew everything you had eaten, to genuinely check that you was pleased with the quality and service, even with our extensive travels. The food, we are not buffet people, so when the hotel had à la carte and buffet alternate evenings we were a little dubious. But honestly there was no need, the buffet is not like an average buffet, the food choices / options / live cooking stations, the fresh ingredients were just spot on. You could 100% tell the quality of the food, the service was amazing. The gala dinner was spectacular and then we were invited to lunch on the beach, we were presented with a special seafood menu in the most perfect setting, it was so romantic and perfect, really it was one of the best meals we have ever had….. The grounds were immaculate throughout and the main pool was beautiful, the cocktails, snacks, afternoon tea, we really couldn’t fault a single thing. Thank you Bazara for a faultless stay, it was a memorable end to our adventures, you all do an exceptional job and that is what really does make this one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed……"
Ocean Boutique Hotel
"Wow, what a blast at Ocean Boutique Hotel! Just wrapped up my second Zanzibar trip in a few months, and this place knocked my socks off! First off, big shout-out to Ally and Kevin - you guys rock! Your smiles and top-notch service made the stay even better. Last time I was next door at The Sands, their sister hotel. Loved it there too, but honestly? Ocean takes the cake! These folks have outdone themselves this time. Both spots are absolute gems, proving the management really knows their stuff. But Ocean? It's on another level entirely! If you're heading to Zanzibar and want a slice of paradise, look no further. Trust me, I'm already plotting my return!"
Hotel Club Dongwe
"We went with friends. Being the guests of the GM and Head Chef, it was indeed an experience to remember. The ambience of the place and the courtesy of the staff was exceptional- the food was not only ever so delicious but its presentation was superb- 10/10 from our side- hope to revisit and stay for longer"
The Palms Zanzibar
"I haven’t written a review for a long time. Maybe the places we’ve been in the world haven’t really been worthy of one however when, once in a lifetime, somewhere touches you so sincerely that maybe the rest of the world needs to hear about it. Now, to describe this place, it would be advised to close your eyes, sit back, breathe deeply and not to let your surroundings distract you. Relaxed? Imagine, the most beautiful landscaped lush green gardens, palm trees swaying above you , piercing blue skies, soothing warm air brushing against your skin coming from across the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Silence, tranquility, pure paradise for the senses. Can you imagine it yet? If so, I’ll begin… A year ago my wife was searching for a holiday. At the time we were in the Maldives. You would think that the Maldives would be the ultimate dream come true, not in a million years did we expect what she found would far, far out way the Maldives. Zanzibar she said, I replied, “where is that”? Little did I know or expect that this small island off the east coast of Tanzania would be our true calling. Now trying to research this island to find a resort to our taste took some work. A lot of research and discussion. A company called The Zanzibar Collection came to our attention and more acutely a resort of just 7 villas and 14 guests. The Palms, situated on the south east coast of the Island on Dongwe beach. I am a true believer that you get what you pay for, this resort is not cheap I will just say that. Worth it? Very much so, let me explain… When we arrived at the resort, tired from hours of travelling from England we were met by a man, reserved, with calming influence, dressed smartly in shirt and trousers. A beautiful smile on his face welcoming us to The Palms, this man was Siriak the hotel operations manager. I can truly say that to Siriak, everyone who walks through his doors are not just guests, they are friends and treated with the upmost courtesy, respect and professionalism. Escorted through the beautiful grounds we were invited to relax on the armchairs and were quickly served a welcome drink whilst he sat with us explaining the resort layout and going through a little bit of paperwork. Our room was not yet ready having arrived early in the morning. Check in is usually at 3pm however Siriak made us comfortable by providing us with a little side villa to change and relax. After a few hours, having breakfast and relaxing in the hotel grounds are room was ready. Now, to say this was a room is an understatement. It’s a private 130sqft villa. Seven in total all named after spices that are found and exported from the island. The islands main source of income. Our villa, Cinnamon, in my humble opinion is the best of them all due to its position on the right side of the resort which seems more private and exclusive. It’s the only villa which no one else can see or access due to its position. A priva"
