Protea Hotel Kimberley ★★★★
"No dinner had to order KFC although it was included in my booking, no TV channels as on their hotel website with constant re-booting and frozen screens, hours to respond to calls to front desk if and when the phone was eventually answered, no-one who could make an omelette with tomato, mushroom and bacon at included breakfast, cold coffee left on breakfast table, duty manager non-responsive when staff look for them, shower head against the wall so impossible not to hit your head when showering. Room was next to some service toom and I was woken up around 4:00am with someone banging a hammer or something. Awful experience at a R1750 per night pricepoint. I think I heard about 25 “we are so sorry” in the one day stay with no-one capable or competent to fix the issues. Worst hotel stay ever in 40 years I can remember."

"A really warm and friendly environment, with spacious accommodation. The food was absolutely terrific! Staff were very attentive, helpful and super efficient. We played golf, and the tennis court was in good condition. A great place to stop for a few days when exploring the Northern Cape."
Uitzicht Guest House ★★★★
"The hotel is very safe, with a shopping mall and various restaurants nearby. However, you'll need a car to get around, and it's not advisable to walk on the main roads."

Caledon Overnight Rooms ★★★
"Easy to find and easy to communicate with householder very spacious appartement with cable tv and access to the movies, there is everything for cooking the house is African style with wood roof and furniture, quite cosy"
Kimberley Club Guesthouse ★★★★
"Based on a fond past experience of about 14 years ago, we decided to stay over again as we travelled through. Based on the rates charged in comparison to other 4 star hotels in town, we expected our experience to be matched with the previous time we had been here. What a total let down. It is actually a disgrace to say the least. It is evident that the hotel in its entirety is in dire need of maintenance and upkeep and a refurbishment, but at the very least a thorough scrub and deep clean of everything - linen included. Every soft furnishing is stained. Wall paint peels from damp damage. We moved rooms 3 times in search of one with a working air conditioner. The last time we moved, they offered to bring our luggage. We waited more than an hour and then enquired about it, when the receptionist admitted she had forgotten. Phones in the rooms are not operational. Coffee and tea have not been checked and stocked in the rooms. We had a nice dinner - but costly and very slow service considering we were only 4 people in the restaurant. I will definitely not come back again. It is an utter shame that a place with so much history is in this condition. At the very least, keep it clean. Is that too much to ask??"
