Stables Ashbourne

We had stayed at the stables before and really enjoyed it with a stunning room. This time however we feel the room was not as nice. A slab near the hot tub lifted when stood on revealing the appartment garden below and almost trapping my toe. The wood around the hot tub was mouldy and was broken in the corner appearing unkept. The cover on the hot tub had mould and moss growing on it. The chairs on the balcomy also had moss growing on them and transfered onto my white blouse when I sat on it not realising it had moss on it when I sat. The TV was on a slant artached to the wall. We opened the jar of complimentry biscuirts to find one of the biscuits had a bite out of it. Visible teeth marks and it had not broken off in the jar as we checked . Such a shame as our first stay was amazing but for the cost of the room we expected a higher amount of cleanliness and it would be better maintained.

After days out at Chatsworth house and the Monsol Trail the Stables was a very cosy bolthole. Lots of nice touches. The Hot tub was obviously a highlight and ready to go when we arrived but remember no lights or bubbles. We always love a dressing gown and slippers, complimentary soft drinks and a coffee machine were much appreciated. Bed really comfortable and really nicely presented bathroom . It was always good to keep my portable speaker in my suitcase as we could easily stream our spotify on the TV. The only small issue and apologies if it was me being daft but could not make a late night coffee or early morning cups of tea without having to turn the main light on and wake my wife. The facilities are in an alcove in the room's corridor on the left. There is possibly an integrated switch you can use but if so ; I never found it. Ashbourne is a nice enough location although a bit of a building site when we arrived. The only thing we did not realise though is the 5 minute walk to town is very steep on the way back. We therefore ate both nights at the Bowling Green, a warm and inviting atmosphere, very accommodating staff but make sure you really like Blue Cheese if you order the blue cheese pizza!

We stayed at the Stables in Ashbourne for one night and could no fault a thing. All the appliances are high end including GHD hairdryer!! Nespresso coffee machine. We had dinner in the Bowling Green pub next to the apartments and the food was delicious. We would highly recommend a stay here. Amy - manager was so helpful - we asked for some mugs as we are tea drinkers and like a big mug. Nothing was too much trouble - it's a perfect example of how hospitality should be run - well done to all involved.
