Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Decatur

There is a $200 deposit on a $100 room. The beds are comfy. Rooms need updating looks like a room from the late 90s. I requested a handicap accessible room, the room was NOT wheelchair accessible! After checking in at 2am and checking out at 10am and being assured our deposit would be returned we waited 21 days for our refund just to call be be told someone smoked in the room (we do not smoke) and our deposit would not be returned. We had called two times before this to inquire about the deposit since we were told 48 hours then 7-10 days and both times we called we were told the deposit had already been refunded on their side. Now it’s been 21 days and they are changing the story. Customer service was rude every time! Another guest said he found bugs in his room. DO NOT STAY HERE or at least do not expect your deposit back.

The parking lot and surrounding area could use some work up with repaving, new side walks, sealing of cracks, etc. The hotel seemed adequate except it could use an update to the building and a thorough cleaning.

This hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, especially given the cost of rooms. Furniture had ripped and stained upholstery and the carpet was heavily stained in rooms.

Had the possibility of being great, but room had a smell, bathroom floor tiles were loose, room's chairs were threadbare. Bed was comfortable and pull-out adequate, but needed more bed linens for the pull-out (no top sheet, only light blanket).

Lobby was pleasant, clerk was pleasant, Rooms need much needed updated furniture, the desk chair was tattered, carpeting was dirty , furniture was stained, floor in bath was needing deep cleaning or new grout. Sheer curtains were shredded, smoke detector was hanging loose from the wall. Bedding needed cleaning, looked ok, but had foul odor, as well as hall ways. Elevator was very creaky, and also dirty. We did not stay our entire visit planned, left after one night.
