"We arrived very late after a long non-stop drive from Wales and the restaurant was, unsurprisingly, closed. I asked if there was a local restaurant open. The receptionist said no but could see that we were tired and hungry and opened the kitchen to cook us spaghetti bolognese. Excellent, beyond the call of duty service and highly recommended if you're looking for a stop en route to Brussels from the channel tunnel. The following day we stayed at a 5-star hotel in Brussels where the welcome was nowhere near as friendly as this Ibis. "

"I chose this hotel for a romantic weekend by the sea and to propose to my partner. It was a complete disaster… We arrived in room 219, which the hotel had assigned us, and were very unpleasantly surprised by its condition: a broken bedside lamp dangling from the wall, a broken window blind, dust on the furniture, grease stains on the door, a white ring on the bathroom carpet, a screw sticking out of the toilet wall, a broken toilet seat… (see photos below). We went straight to the reception staff, and that's where the second unpleasant surprise came in: the staff were completely unresponsive. One receptionist told us he only had a few minutes because it was almost time for him to go home. He wasn't at all solution-oriented, offered no compensation whatsoever, and kept us on the back burner for four hours (!) promising we would meet with the manager, only to finally tell us he had gone home and that there would be no solution or compensation offered. Disappointed and bewildered by this situation, we preferred to leave the establishment that same day without having used the room. We sent our complaint to the manager by email. In corresponding with him, we quickly understood the staff's attitude: no apology, no self-reflection, and they considered the room worthy of a 4-star hotel in Belgium. In short, if you want to avoid throwing €500 away, look elsewhere."

"We had a fantastic 2 nights at this hotel. Welcome on arrival was super with a tour of the hotel. Room was good - we’d booked a standard room overlooking the garden. We loved the lounge area and bar and the honesty system for drinks. It was very cosy in the bar area. Unfortunately weather was really poor so we didn’t get to use the outdoor pool or garden. Location of hotel is in a lovely residential areas about 10 min walk from centre. Breakfast was good. Service was consistently friendly and helpful and pretty much everyone was multi lingual. I’m struggling to find anything that wasn’t spot on …. Best Ive got is that breakfast doesn’t start til 8.30am and I would have preferred 8am 😀"

You can relax in the garden or in the heated outdoor pool or at the bar. The owner is extremely caring and will make your stay a great experience."
