Hotels in Ancient City Tourist Cultural Area, Datong

Had a fantastic stay! We booked the 'sky-light room,' which was very quiet, allowing us to sleep soundly until morning. The front desk attendant was incredibly warm and helpful; she brought ice packs for my wife's sprained ankle and even lent us a charging cable. The guesthouse is conveniently located directly across from the old town city wall entrance, where you can climb up for free to enjoy panoramic views of the ancient city.

I highly recommend this guesthouse! Firstly, the location is excellent. It's right inside the ancient city, very close to Huayan Temple, Nine Dragon Wall, and the ancient city wall, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. Secondly, the room layout is fantastic. In a prime location within the ancient city where every inch is precious, finding a guesthouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms is quite rare, and it perfectly met our needs. Room hygiene: The room was clean and tidy, with no strange odors, and it was cleaned daily. Disposable bath towels and toilet seat covers were provided. The guesthouse also has parrots 🦜, peacocks 🦚, squirrels 🐿️, and goldfish 🐟, which add a lot of life to the place, and these little animals are all very friendly to people. While there are many guesthouses in the ancient city now, I still recommend this one the most, and the reason is the service! The owner of this guesthouse has an excellent service attitude, answering every question. As soon as we arrived, seeing that we were tired, they immediately brought us iced watermelon 🍉 and peaches 🍑. In the morning, they brought us warm, homegrown old corn 🌽 and local specialties. We were very touched!

The room was very comfortable. Service: The room service was excellent. An auntie surnamed Cui and a young man (sorry, I forgot to check his name) who I believe are in charge of the executive floor, were very quick to respond. Late-night porridge: A bowl of millet porridge late at night is incredibly comforting for the stomach.

Location: The location is excellent, right in Datong Ancient City. The hotel is directly across from Huayan Temple and Huayan Temple Square. It's also very close to many famous Datong restaurants like Zini 369, Longjuxiang, Beiwei Jiayan, and Xijindao, all within walking distance, which is incredibly convenient. Service: It's understandable that hotel prices increase during peak tourist season, but the service should also keep up. Before check-in, a hotel staff member called to ask about any special requests. I mentioned I had a child and needed children's amenities prepared in advance. However, upon arriving at the room, I found none were provided. I called the front desk to request them, but waited a very long time without anything being delivered. My family eventually stopped a cleaner in the hallway to get them. On the second day of our stay, the bathroom wasn't even cleaned – the trash was still in the bin, and the tissues hadn't been replaced. There was no staff outside to assist with luggage. On a positive note, my child lost a tooth and got some blood on the duvet, and the cleaning staff promptly replaced it, which was great. Breakfast: The restaurant isn't large, and there weren't many diners, which made for a comfortable experience. They offered freshly cooked items like lamb offal soup and knife-cut noodles. The variety of dishes wasn't extensive, but it was decent. Overall, there's still room for improvement regarding the details.

Staffs are friendly. The inn is situated inside the ancient wall town , which make it easy to walk around the town. The decor of the inn is very unique and i luv it. The only downside of the inn is no lift. But staff will help you to carry the luggage up. Highest floor is 3 levels.

Let's start with the positives: The room was quite spacious and well-arranged, and it's very close to the East Gate of the ancient city, just a short walk to Southeast Yi. However, the downsides are also very prominent. The soundproofing in the room is truly terrible! You can hear conversations and phone calls from next door crystal clear, and the snoring from the guy next door sounded like he was right beside my bed. Also, the door is really weird; you have to slam it really hard to close it, and each time it makes a thundering noise. This means if a few rooms are checking out in the morning, forget about getting any sleep.

Stayed here for 3 days while visiting Datong. The room was spotlessly clean and well-ventilated, with no strange smells. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. There's a convenience store downstairs, and it's a short, direct taxi ride to all the attractions, which saved a lot of time. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay. The front desk staff were all lovely young ladies who provided very attentive service. I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting!

Pros: 1. Convenient location 2. Excellent service, very responsive to requests Cons: 1. The hotel hallways and elevators reeked of sewage – I've never experienced anything like it before. 2. The room design was extremely 'user-friendly': 2.1 The frequently used vanity mirror had no independent light switch; you had to turn on all the room lights from the bedside panel to illuminate the sink... 2.2 The shower room only had a low-power exhaust fan for ventilation. The enclosed design made taking a hot shower feel like climbing Mount Everest. 2.3 The 'smart' toilet would always flush intelligently at the most inconvenient times. 2.4 The air conditioning vent was thoughtfully positioned to blow directly onto your head, perhaps to prevent guests from getting a fever at night. There was no way to avoid it, ensuring a 'cool' night. It's hard to imagine these significant flaws in a hotel that just opened in 2026.

This guesthouse is absolutely fantastic, it really shattered my preconceived notions about ggesthouses. It offers service that goes far beyond its price point, delivering incredible value for money. The staff are incredibly warm and attentive, the common areas are very artistic, and the cleanliness is impeccable. The room facilities are perfectly adequate. I'll definitely choose this guesthouse again next time I'm in Datong, and I'll be recommending it to all my friends. (Pictures taken by me)

This time I came to Datong to stay at this homestay and the experience was full! The homestay is newly renovated, the rooms are very clean and tidy, and all kinds of facilities are very new and comfortable. The view of the yard is beautiful, and it is especially pleasant to sit in your leisure time. What impressed me the most was the boss family, who treated people sincerely and enthusiastically, and made the journey particularly warm. Highly recommended, I will choose here next time I come to Datong!
