I stayed at the Holiday Inn for a one-night weekend trip. It's located outside the ancient city area; a taxi to the ancient city costs just over 10 RMB, and to Datong South Station, it's a bit more than 20 RMB. Even though Datong is theoretically in its off-season after the school year started, there are still many tourists. Restaurants in the ancient city still have long queues. Within 3 kilometers of the hotel, there are chain branches of popular restaurants like Longjuxiang, Kaige, and Sandaocai. While they still have queues, it's much better than the ancient city area. The hotel room is very spacious, over 30 square meters, with a king-sized bed. The breakfast selection is also very rich. P.S. I asked the front desk staff for dining recommendations. Besides the famous restaurants within 3km mentioned above, they also recommended the hotel's Chinese restaurant. I didn't get a chance to try it, but the prices were genuinely friendly.

The hotel occupies two floors, the ninth and tenth, and the rooms are spacious. All facilities are almost brand new. The entire room is smart home; the bathroom nightlight is sensor-activated, only illuminating when you enter the bathroom at night, so the light won't disturb your partner's sleep. The mattress is also very comfortable and supportive. I slept soundly and felt refreshed. The room's cleanliness and soundproofing are excellent. I'm seventy years old and very sensitive to noise; even the slightest sound will wake me up, but I slept very comfortably here, even more comfortably than at home. The young lady at the hotel reception was incredibly helpful and enthusiastic. She assisted us with various issues and enthusiastically introduced us to different restaurants and attractions in Datong. She helped us integrate into the local life as soon as we arrived in the city. My partner said that she alone would make it worthwhile to come back to Datong again. This hotel will be my only choice for my next trip.

Traveling to Datong with kids, I chose the Hampton by Hilton just outside the ancient city. The hotel's surroundings are great, with a park and a lake, and it's not far from the ancient city, about a 20-minute drive. The room was very clean, with a king bed and a sofa bed, perfect for a family trip. The 'Dao Xiao Mian' (knife-cut noodles) and lamb offal at breakfast were both delicious. The front desk service was warm and attentive, and they even gave us a bottle of aged vinegar as a gift!

I booked a triple room for a trip with my family. The room was clean and tidy, and the service from the front desk lady was very good. Tea and snacks were given as souvenirs upon arrival. I drove the tram and wanted to recharge, and enthusiastically solved the floor lock problem. My elders are used to the light food at home. The breakfast was rich and there were many choices. When you come to Datong to travel, you basically run the attractions outside during the day, and return to such a clean, smart, and intimate place at night, and you will feel full of happiness. I booked this hotel because I was going to a museum. I chose a room close to the elevator. They only changed the sheets and blankets; the floor and table weren't cleaned. I chose it for convenience. The whole room was smart and clean, but there was a slight odor, probably from the furniture. Because I have a sensitive sense of smell, my throat hurt after a while, but it got better after ventilating the room for a long time. The pillows were latex, and the mattress seemed to be too. There was some limescale on the bathroom floor. The room I slept in was very clean. There's a gym and a small courtyard with beautiful scenery—perfect for photos. The pretty receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is on the second floor of the Ji Hotel, you have to walk outside the hotel, and it's quite plentiful. Overall, it was a good hotel.

The loft suite is very comfortable for three people, especially with a separate room and bathroom for the elderly, so they can rest well! The breakfast is very rich. I have been out for several days and lack of vegetables. I finally had vegetable salad🥗. There are also Shanxi specialties, mutton offal noodles and meat noodles are delicious😋
