Crieff Hydro

Great stay for family, but so much more room for improvement. Beautiful place and so much potential.

We recently stayed at the Crieff Hydro and were impressed by the beautiful surroundings and the hotel itself – it really is a stunning location. The staff were lovely and attentive throughout our visit. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a serious issue with the room we booked. We had specifically chosen a room that, as advertised, included a dividing space – ideal for parents with a young child. We raised concerns about the room prior to booking, but were only told no room exists with a dividing space, and they would tell ******* (who we booked through) to remove the picture of the room we booked (family triple) Sadly, there was no offer to remedy the issues from the hotel itself. To make matters worse, the room we did end up with was uncomfortably hot, with no air conditioning and only a cheap fan provided, which did little to help. Appreciate that air conditioning wasn’t described when we booked the room, however room 146 was unbearably hot. While the hotel has great potential and the staff were wonderful, our stay was ultimately ruined by misleading advertising and an unsuitable room setup. A real shame, as we had high hopes

The Victorian spa was lovely and so relaxing I could have spent all day here. It’s adults only but unfortunately it’s not included and you do need to pay £30 per person for 2 hours access. The room was nice and spacious and the bathroom was lovely. The burger at the Brassiere was really good. The assistant manager in the Brassiere was really helpful and really knew what he was doing. The room was quite hot so could do with some air conditioning in the room. The Brassiere was quite chaotic with lots of kids running around and was quite loud so could probably do with a quieter section that you could book. The Hermitage didn’t have any bar service open so you had to go to a busy bar and take your drinks in and no one mentioned why this was. Overall it was a nice hotel with friendly staff but I think the family adventure holiday and relaxing couples spa break is a difficult balance to have both at the same time. For the price of the room i did expect more.

All aspects of facilities and personnel were excellent. The IT booking of multiple rooms and pre-ordering of meals for 10 people was problematic, but was resolved..
