Having been a regular visitor to the Hydro, visited recently to see the various changes/improvements to the Hydro. The new bar in the former ballroom looks great but is spoilt by the large number of artificial plants. Had a coffee in Brodies, which was probably one of the worst coffees I have had. The cafe was rather grubby and need of some attention. Certainly would avoid having a coffee at the Hydro

Enjoyed a couple of days break in Crieff Hydro. We love the hotel with the recently refurbished areas, it does look great.

Our stay at Crieff Hydro was beyond disappointing. When we booked, we had no idea the rooms didn’t have air conditioning. The first room we were given was very run down—stains on the carpet and furniture, wallpaper peeling, and not even stocked with toilet paper. The “double bed” was just two twin beds pushed together with separate sheets and duvets, and nothing to secure them. It felt careless. The hallways had dead bugs, and our room service tray wasn’t collected until late in the day. Parking was also inconvenient—quite far away, and if you choose the main hotel (instead of the self-service cabins, which we didn’t want), you aren’t told in advance that you’ll have to walk up a hill to get inside. One positive: Lindsay, the manager, was wonderful. She moved us to a much better room the next day and really cared about making things right. Other issues: The bathrooms are not accessibility-friendly. You have to step 23 inches over the tub to use the shower, with no grab bars. The elevator system is frustrating—all elevators go down first, then maybe up. Not great if you need assistance. The Winter Garden staff were lovely, but the food was awful. Breakfast buffet was average at best. The Victorian Bath experience was especially disappointing. We arrived promptly at 9:30 expecting something relaxing, only to find several women swimming laps to Bruce Springsteen blaring in the background. Definitely not worth the extra money. There were a few highlights—a cute gift shop and some kind staff—but overall, the experience was far from what we expected for the price.

loved our visit, we are both 62, so not spring chickens. The check-n was simple, although it was nearer 5pm due to it being a busy Saturday, nonetheless i spent a couple of hours in the leisure area. whilst the wife had a nice Chardoney. the room was nice, fresh and well decorated. The breakfast was busy if you go at 9.30 like us (lazy), it was wholesome and tasty, the bread and cakes are lovely. We had dinner one night as part of the deal, it was in the oriental restaurant, I think we chose the wrong dinning place if im honest, the food was not to our taste, although that is our problem i believe, the staff were excellent in the restaraunt. the bars are nice, with big comfortable chairs, the staff are very hard worked and also had a wedding to contend with, we shouted loader in the end which was a bit frustrating as the wedding guests thought that they were priority. The entertainment was a CEILIDH, this was fun and mostly kids joined in, the next night was a singer who was really good too. the grounds are beautiful & the kids activities are awesome for sure. We walked to town which was hectic given the condition of the roads and pavements, the lack of taxi cabs is a problem in this area of Scotland, not just Crieff, it would be good if the hotel put a bus on at the weekends. The gym, pool, jacuzzi, steam room are excellent, really top notch, if you pick your times you can get a cracking swim during non-busy times. The staff are brilliant in the health suite, really focussed and helpful, having the premiership football on was also a bonus if you like football. We loved our stay, its a lively part of the world, spending time in the town was nice with the locals and the heritage centre. We loved our stay and are planning our next visit with the grand kids.

I expected the reception team to be more welcoming and friendly. It was abrupt and any question seemed like an issue. The girl was a trainee but I expected 5* service. Service in the winter garden was also a bit poor due to time taken and cleanliness of areas. The service at the terrace and action glen were 1st class and other parts of the hotel should take note. I also paid for early check in not realising that the activities could be used at 10am, this should be made clearer when booking. I tried to change to a late check out after finding this out but the hotel couldn’t accommodate it. A waste of £50. I would recommend anyone using the activities to avoid an early check in as would be a waste of money

Visited for my partner's birthday and were treated like VIP guests - thank you for a wonderful trip. Lauren was a star in organising the room and activities. A birthday card a drinks in the room on arrival and a surprise candled dessert in East for dinner. Small touches that made a huge difference

I have always wanted to stay at the Grand Victorian hotel in Crieff, finally save up bit and went for it. We had tried the couple's memories deal, which offers good value for money when you dine there on your first night. The hotel is everything you expect from its gothic architecture to the maze of corridors inside. The staff are professional, courteous and always ready to help. Out room was roomy and comfortable. If I were to revisit, I might specify a south-facing room as we were on the north side, and it was a bit darker. No matter who we are, we will be spending most of our time walking around the lovely countryside or sitting in one of the many bars in the hotel, sipping a nice cocktail or two. Its on the pricey side but it is after all a hotel.
