Superb 2 night stay in the pool cabin to celebrate a birthday. The cabin is very clean and comfortable but the most outstanding area is the spa pool and outdoor seating area. The pool is situated on a private large veranda with superb, unbroken views across the countryside. It is quite large for a spa pool (4m x 4m) and was close to bath temperature throughout the stay, great fun even when a slight drizzle came over! Access and parking are very easy, being right outside the cabin gate. We had dinner in the restaurant both evenings and found the staff very helpful and friendly. The menu choice is relatively small but each evening offered a number of daily specials and the food quality is a step above that expected for a normal 'Gastropub' All in all a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to recommend for a short break.

Still waiting for our complimentary glass of prosecco ! Went for an early evening sharing plate menu that was advertised as including the above special offer. We were never invited to have one -not surprising since they charge £12.65 for a bang average large glass of Pino Grigio Blush !! That includes the optional service charge. To be fair the Sharing Plate was good but sky high wine prices left a nasty taste.

While in Yorkshire recently we spent a night at the Durham Ox in Crayke. This is an excellent inn offering really nice accommodation and superb food. Our room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and everything worked! Dinner was of a very high standard and there were a number of vegetarian options. Likewise breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful and they make a mean Porn Star Martini. Well worth a visit if you’re in the York/Thirsk area.

Exceptional
Superb dining pub with rooms. Service excellent from Emily and the young barman who produced amazing cocktails with style and flair. Dinner was exceptional in quality and presentation as was breakfast. Another fantadtic stay!

As always a fabulous Sunday lunch. The Durham Ox never fails to deliver on every level, excellent food and service. A favourite of ours for many years. Glad it has received very well deserved accolades. We always book now to avoid disappointment.

5 Star, Excellent. Heard all about the Durham Ox but never been. We have one person working for us and took him and his wife out for Sunday luncheon. Yummy, great staff, nice tables. Good service and staff were lovely. Nicely spaced tables too and definitely not rushed.

Our second visit recently and what a great find. Really comfortable rooms and superb food and friendly, prompt service with great atmosphere. The specials menu combine well with some of the classic choices on the a la carte ( appropriately beef dominated!) menu and we really enjoyed dinner on both occasions we stayed. Selection of wines were excellent with a very good house claret by the glass. 10/10.
