The room I checked in to had a strong smell of fume or fuel.
After reporting, nothing was done. The staff said he couldn’t smell anything. He advised me to use air freshener!

Room smelled of stale cigarettes
Charged a £20 deposit for the room key, which wasn’t made clear. The room stank of stale cigarette smoke, and the shower plug was blocked and nearly overflowed when I was showering.
