Location Location Location. The Super 8 property is conveniently located off of Exit 193 on I-35. The easy onoff access ramp makes this property THE place to stay in Clear Lake Iowa. The new addition of the Kum and Go convenience station makes it even more desirable.
We boast 60 well-appointed guest rooms all of which feature free wireless high speed internet coffee maker and hair dryer. Enjoy one of our single rooms which include all of the standard amenities plus a recliner and additional living space.
Breakfast hours are weekdays 5am-9am.
The city comes alive during the first weekend in February as the annual Buddy Holly Memorial weekend gets underway. Make your reservations early for this popular event. Events are held at the famous Surf Ballroom the last place Buddy Holly the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens played to a packed house.

It a OK place for a fast late night stop over .. sidewalk area near side and back entrance very rocky and falling apart major walking issue.. the rooms nice and simple.. A/C needs to be replaced.. or upgraded. Barely kept the room cool 😎 !!?

Had reserved for 2 night, went back 2nd afternoon to motel and key wouldn't work. Staff only checked me for one night. NOT VERY PLEASED

The room was horrible only one light on the bathroom was working, there was a lamp plugged in that didn’t work unplugged the lamp to plug in my phone charger & the outlet didn’t work. Tv was not set up correctly. There were only 2 towels in the bathroom that weren’t big at all and one was yellow almost like it had been sitting in a smoke filled room for years & they were extremely rough. We didn’t even stay the second night that we had reserved.

The rooms were good. You can tell they have done a lot of work to the place. The part I liked the best was the young woman who checked me in and the gentle man who checked me out was so very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was great. The bed was so comfy and with the air blowing I was able to cuddle up and had the best night's sleep I've had in a long time!! Thank you all! 💖

We were very disappointed in our stay from July 3 to July 6, 2025. When we checked in we were told only one room was available. The room smelled of cigarettes and was dirty. My husband went to the front desk to complain at 7:30am and was told there was another room available, even though nothing else was available the night before. The next room we were moved to was on the second floor. However the bathroom was filthy, I ended up cleaning myself. The towels were stained and paper thin as well as a stained shower curtain. The air conditioner was very loud so very little sleep. We were told the manager would be calling the next day about a refund and no word.
If we had any other upticks we would have checked out immediately. Very disappointing!

The beds were very comfortable and service was great at the front desk. The staff was very friendly and helpful, making our stay that much more enjoyable.

We accidentally left our personal laundry bag (with soap and dirty clothes in it!) we didn’t notice it until the 2nd morning after our check out. We were going to be returning home via the route the hotel is on. I called to see if the housekeeper happened to find it. She did! They held it at the front desk and we picked it up on our return trip!!

The place was a dump. Towels just thrown on the wire shelf. Dirty floor. Unkempt parking lot. Just a nasty unkempt place. I felt like I was staying at a third world hourly motel. Lamp wires strewn about in the floor.
